Due Date Descrepancy

Hey, (FTM)

I've been seeing my family physician up until recently, having switched to my OB. When talking about due dates, he had me at 29 weeks(and 5 days). When I went to my first OB appointment, they insisted I was 28 weeks.

I know due dates can change, (mine did; +2 weeks at 17 weeks US) but our LO is 2.7lbs according to my most recent ultrasound, and my instinct is telling me 29 weeks.

Edit: They both looked at the same ultrasound, both did the measurements, yet, different due dates.

Insisted you were 28 weeks based on what? You're medical history would stay the same with the switch. Did they do the tape measure and go from that or that is what the growth scan told them? You shouldn't have left the office confused - if they're changing the due date they should explain exactly why.

What measurements are they using? Perhaps your physician was using your LMP to estimate your due date, and your OB used the information from your ultrasounds? Those can slightly vary by a week or so. Either way, you should have had them specifically explain why there was a discrepancy before you left. I would call back and ask for an explanation.

Take the 28 weeks you'll be much less likely to be induced for being "late"!
