  I have had 2 horrible colds with this pregnancy and my doctor told me tylenol cold was safe to take. I asked about the different varieties and if that mattered at all. They said no but to just stick to the tylenol cold brand. 

  
  

  As for effectiveness, it took up to an hour to work for me and only lasted about 5 at most. Does provide some relief for a short amount of time.
