Rock n play vs pack n play

I was wondering if anyone had experience with the rock n play versus the pack n play? I was given a rock n play and wondering do I also need the pack n play?

I've read some other forums that they can be helpful for homes with multiple stories, but we have a ranch style house where the nursery (and changing table) are very close.

All opinions welcomed! Thanks ladies!

Re: Rock n play vs pack n play

  • I've had 3 RnPs so far. Can't live without it!!

  • Pack and plays can be used for a few years...I'm a FTM, but my sis always brings it when they travel or for the holidays if they're at our parent's house, the baby can go down for a nap in a safe place. My nephew is 2 and she still uses it for that.

I registered for a rock 'n play, but I think it's just for the infant stage?
  • I've heard that it's also is only for the infant stage whereas the pack n play last much longer.
    So many decisions!
  • My littles sleep in the rock n plays until the are 6 months. - we never use our pack n play unless we travel and need a bed for them, never used like they did back In The day to keep baby entertained.
  • IMO, they are two totally different things! I never had a RNP, but I knew lots of mommies that loved them because their LO wouldn't sleep laying flat for acid reflux. The PNP can be used when they're infants, but we mostly use ours for DD to sleep in when we spend the night away from home. She is just now getting to the point where she'll sleep in a regular bed instead of a PNP when we're away from home.

  • We used both. RNP was all DD slept in until about 4 months, then the PNP in our room or when traveling. She's 16 months now and has been in a crib in her room for quite a while, but we still use the PNP for her whenever we travel.
  • My mom bought me a pak n play I had to return it tho are house is just wayyy to tiny to have that plus the crib. So if your tight on space def the rnp
