Carbs on carbs on carbs

So I'm almost 14W and I've basically only eaten bread, pasta, and fruit for the past 8W. I am usually fairly trim, an athletic 5'8 156lbs....but since becoming prego my belly has gotten huge and it's all diet. I'm hoping to curb that in the coming months when I'm able to start eating like a normal human being again....

Anyone else in the same boat? This pregnancy, last pregnancy ???

  • I ate whatever whenever the last pregnancy and doing the same for this one. Being pregnant doesn't give you the right to pig out, but if your having trouble keeping anything and everything down- it's better to eat what you can. Don't worry you'll be able to get back on track soon when the morning sickness subsides. Also, if your feeling badly about the carbs you can always do safe exercises for pregnancy- prenatal yoga is wonderful.

  • Yes last pregnancy and this one. I'm convinced it's a girl again as with my two boys I was never like this. I gained a lot way too fast last pregnancy and ended up having diabetes. After meeting with dietician I gained zero more lbs. the rest of my pregnancy so it is possible to curb that weight gain for sure. I really want to cut carbs in hopes of no diabetes this time, but it's all I can stomach right now. I'm with you on eating normally hopefully soon.
  • I LOVE to eat right and exercise but this first trimester is kicking my ass. I hear ya, girl. The sooner I can get back on track the better.
  • You sound like me with my last pregnancy. We had sold our house and were moving in with my in laws while we built our home. So, we both basically ate nothing but take out and even fast food for 2 months. I craved veggies mostly but ate fries a lot so the pounds came quick with that pregnancy.

    This time around I'm eating so much better. Veggie cravings again, but I'm rocking some serious bloat regardless. The funny part is that the day I found out I was pregnant was the day I found out I hit my pre-pregnancy weight. Fml

  • This is my first and I'm 10w and I'm dying with this diet but I can't kick it. I normally eat within a flexible paleo diet and now it seems like all I'm eating is ramen, bagels, gold fish, English muffins, and soda. I feel horrible 24/7 I'm nauseous constantly and vomiting anywhere from 2-5 times a day. I'm keeping down food but it's all crap... Definitely hoping for a stronger stomach come 2nd trip so that I can eat more fruit/veggies and MEAT, something I haven't been able to even look at lately -__-
  • All I want to eat is carbs! & I am OKAY with that. I make sure to get some protein in but I am okay with 50% of my diet coming from carbs! I track all my food with My Fitness Pal to be sure I don't go over board ... My last pregnancy I gained 53 lbs!
  • A little update - I actually craved chicken today. First time in 2months I've even been able to say the word. Good luck to everyone - hopefully this was my turning point. I'm feeling pretty chubby...:)
  • Yep Carbs is all i want daily. But i try and incorporate protein and Veg with the meals too! I'm thinking about carbs right now for lunch....yum! haha
  • Yea, I've been carby... I was eating Tomato and Basil soup with some bread which was okay for a little while but now the thought of it turns my stomach... Then I've also been trying to exercise but then pulled something pretty badly the other day and now have trouble sleeping/walking because of it... it's like my child really wants me to accept my chunky monkey side... I don't wanna!!!! Let me have my flat tummy for a little while longer ;3;
  • Yes, yes, yes. These hormones will not allow my stomach to be empty. And fruits and veggies don't count, I've tried but I throw them up. I have to eat carbs in order to keep anything down. I've gained too much too fast. As soon as I feel better I really hope I can get back on track. I've tried working out but I get so light headed. I was super fit before I got sick. I had to break out my old maternity pants yesterday. It's driving me crazy. With my first I couldn't keep food down and had to have iv therapy, I actually lost weight. Not this time though which I guess is a good thing.
  • Yes I want all the carbs. I've been having bagels, fruit, and a meal consisting of brrad daily. I even ate a hot dog bun dipped in pasta sauce as a snack recently.
  • I'm 5'7 and 158 as well, although 166 now! I'm eating ALL the carbs. I have little to no willpower. I had two PB&Js for breakfast and a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Give me all the bread!
