We have tried many sippy cups -our 12mo old just doesn't want water. Spits it out immediately. We're down to just the night time bottle with half formula and half whole milk (slowly transitioning) so I'm trying to give him water with meals and snacks. Do you give a bottle or sippy of milk with meals or just for morning/night time?
Also, he seems to only like pouches/baby food. I keep trying to offer different solid foods on his tray, he throws them right on the ground! Drives me nuts. So I'll put a piece on a spoon or give it to him directly, he spits it out doesn't give anything a chance! So far-puffs, cheetos, yogurt, pouches (fruits) mostly but I do sneak in the veg/fruit combos. Anyway - is this the beginning of a picky eater?? Or he is just funny about textures? Noodles/bananas/ect.. do I just keep offering and trying different things? Sorry about all this mess lol. .thanks!
Re: sippy/whole milk/picky with solid foods.
about 4-6 ounces each. One in the morning, one in the afternoon, and
one before bed. We give him water with meals and offer water throughout
the day if he is thirsty.
My little one is 17 months old and he is very particular about texture. Slowly but surely, he's trying new things. I stick to the things he likes and try to eat with him as much as possible. If he shows interest in what I'm eating, I let him try it. He still eats a lot of purees rather than whole fruits and veggies.
From what I've read, this isn't an indicator that they will be a picky eater. Just remember that everything is new to them and it might take time for them to adjust and learn to like things. I really think it is a texture thing for my son. If you're concerned, chat with your pediatrician. But as long as he's growing I'm sure he is fine.
