May 2015 Moms

It isn't even May yet...

So nobody on this Board is even at their EDD yet, let alone past it. The mean for first time pregnancies is 41 weeks and 1 day. Be patient with your babies and bodies...If you're still pregnant today it's because everything is working perfectly, not because your body is broken.

  • The latest medical guidelines are that 37-38 weeks are considered 'early term' and that for optimum brain development baby should stay inside until at least 39. Labor will happen when it happens and I am as aware as anyone that late pregnancy kind of sucks, but no need to rush your baby's birthday =)

  • Right? I was thinking the same thing. I don't understand why everyone is in such a hurry. I'm perfectly ok with my son waiting til his due date. After that then Ill worry about speeding things up just to avoid an induction. But I am content just waiting for him to decide it's time.
  • Baby is measuring big in my case and doc said if i go early i could possibly avoid c section. If baby stays till 40 weeks is prob going to mean c section. Not looking forward to that recovery with a toddler
  • Amen!

I'm due at the end of May. I'm just hoping he stays put until after his older sister's birthday party is over so I can focus my energy on giving her the last "only child" birthday party she'll have. I'm trying to make it special for her since by this time next year I'll be focusing on two May birthdays. :)

Me and you are in the same boat!!! My DD's birthday is May 16th my due date is May 28th, and all I'm hoping is she can stay in until May 17th or later because it would break her sister's heart (who will be 9 and was the only child) for her to share a birthday!
  • Eerie how close we are. My DD's is the 14th, and I'm due the 30th! Hahaha!

I will have two may children and a may husband ;-) good month for cake!!!
  • I'm trying to keep this kid in until mid May otherwise her daddy will be in training and won't make it. That would be no good! However, I would be fine if she made it to her due date and we end up sharing May 30 as our birthdate! :)

  • I think we all know that we are miserable. Every time I stands up I think my baby's head is going to crush my bladder.
But we aren't into May yet and most people on this board would be having a baby too early at this point. There is a reason they call 40 weeks full term and changed 37-39 weeks pre- full term. (Or whatever it is; it's something like that I believe).

  • Well.... I have no interest in going any earlier. ... I have a scheduled c section for may 15.... but this lady insists in getting out!. I know she's running out of space.... but I also need to get some things done before that! I just hope she keeps baking until the 15th. ...
  • I'm finishing up work projects this week and am praying that my baby stays right where she is for the time being. As uncomfortable as I'm getting, I'm going to relish a couple of weeks with my feet up in the lounger out in the back yard. I also would love for her other grandmother to arrive in time to help welcome her. Still, my twin and other two sisters came early with almost all of their babies. I've got everything packed and ready, just in case ;)
  • I'm actually hoping to go overdue! We just started a deck Reno and I'd like it to be done before baby comes so my husband won't be busy with that when I need him!! I'm not sure what we
We're thinking starting this so close to my due date but hey, at least we will have a nice deck to enjoy this summer!

I thought I was the only one! My second is due May 2, my first was due May 3, but was born April 29... So, hopefully this one waits til after his bday ri make her debut.
  • Everyone who gets told their baby is measuring big and so agrees to be induced early needs to do some serious research on their own. Having a large baby is no reason to need a cesarean. People deliver 10+ babies all the time! Don't let doctors scare you!
  • I've seriously been wondering about this the last few weeks. I just don't understand all these doctors jumping to csection and inductions without medical necessity. And the doctors willing to induce just because they are uncomfortable and breaking someone's water before they are even full term (40 weeks) without medical necessity. Id be very skeptical if my doctor was willing to do these things. They don't even bother doing cervical checks til 40 weeks and they don't do growth scans unless there is a reason to think there is an issue with baby. I guess whatever these women are comfortable with is great but I would not like to feel like I'm being pressured to have this baby before he's due unless baby or I were in distress.
  • I'm due Friday (5/1) or actually 4/24 if we were going off of LMP and the baby bump is measuring 41 weeks. I'm more than ready to meet my daughter!! ☺

  • I'd just like to say that it's not always safe to have a huge baby. I had a traumatic pp hemorrhage because I had a 10.5 lb baby. I know some women can do it and be fine, but in certain cases the Drs have good reasoning for what they decide. As for me, this baby is measuring big as well and I'm extremely worried about hemorrhaging again. As of right now there is not a set plan to induce me. Yet. Like we've said before, everyone wants their babies to be healthy and fully developed, but we are allowed to vent here.

  • I think this is very rude. True you are entitled to your opinion but to lump everyone in with your opinion is not fair. May starts Friday and for some expectant mums this is their due date. I'm not due until the 6th but, for the well being of my baby I want him early. Between rolling out of bed and falling due to weakend muscles from a previous injury I risk causing him harm.
