So I'm scheduled to be induced on the 4th, so today was my last appointment with my OB before that date. I had the chance to talk to her about stripping membranes and wanted to get her opinion.
I'm 37 weeks today and I've been doing lots of research on it. She said they usually do a sweep at 39 weeks, but since they're taking LO at 38 weeks then she would suggest it. She said that even if it doesn't help push labor along naturally that it's likely to prime my cervix making labor quicker and easier. She said it can lower the length of time and strength of the Pitocin which I'm all for.
I was expecting the stripping to be a lot worse than it was. She described it like an aggressive cervical check and that it was, but more uncomfortable than painful. While checking my cervix she discovered that I'm 3cm dilated and thinned out well. She told me not to be surprised if this throws me into labor within 48 hours.
I was told to not be alarmed if I see spotting, but go in if it's more than that. Also to keep an eye on fluid leaking/water breaking and losing my plug. So far none of that has happened, but being only 37 weeks I didn't expect it. I've had an increase in BH and just a couple regular contractions. Hoping she waits until my parents get here tomorrow night or even until my induction date!
Just wanted to share in case anyone else is considering getting their membranes stripped!

Re: I got my membranes stripped this AM
I'm crossing my fingers that I get thrown into labor on my own, but if I have to get induced I figure as long as she is safe and healthy that's all I need.
Still no change, but I noticed a feeling like my period was going to start (weird belly feeling) after my shower tonight. No fluid that I'm aware of or anything yet.
