Safe Nail Polish

I researched the safest ones are dbp free or 3 free. I use pure ice. I read on their facebook if ia 3 free. Does anyone else know about this brand being safe during pregnancy? Currently have it on my toes and fingers.

Re: Safe Nail Polish

  • I have not read about pure ice being safe, but I know sinful colors is big 3 free and cheap. I let my boyfriend paint my toes when I hit 12 weeks, but decided against my fingers. However, now I'm concerned about getting it off. I don't want to breath in the fumes from the remover. Wamp wamp wamp.

  • I didn't know nail polish was bad... Or even the fumes from the remover.

My dr isn't concerned with the fumes I clean with at work in a dental office.

Wear a mask? If you don't feel safe.

My friend has her own nail polish business and it's all at least 3-free (I thought maybe 5-free but can't find it anywhere). Lots of gorgeous colors and I know she wore them throughout her pregnancies.

  • Jamberry's wraps and polishes are 5 free
  • I went to manicuring school and nail polish is perfectly fine for pregnant women , as well as acrylic , As long as your in a WELL VENTILATED room
  • I don't have any reservations about polishing my nails with regular old polish, but the brand Zoya is 3 free. They have great colors. They sell online and I've seen a small selection in Target.
  • ^ zoya is 5 free (even better). I'm using water based paint only - Scotch Naturals, Piggy Polish etc. I'm not taking any chances on long term issues. I file the paint off too.
  • There is actually quite a bit of harmful products in nail polish and that goes for pregnant and not pregnant. There is also just as much if not more harmful things in just about all beauty products we use today - there is very little regulation in the US believe it or not. That being said it's all about moderation and finding what works best for you . There is a brand called Aquarella that has pretty good ingredients but as far as a I know you can only get it online, I've meant to order some and try it out but never got around to it so I'm not sure on how well it works but I have heard good things.
  • @twogirlsandagreen where are you getting those water based brands at?
  • Jamberry is 5 free. No harmful anything in them. I sell them but it's also all I wear since I have been pregnant! Check out my website..

  • I love Jamberry. I can't paint my nails to save my life but I can put on jamberries :)
  • I use nail polish of any kind three months out of the year, and only on my toes. This isn't because I have read something about the chemicals or how it's bad for me; rather, it's out of personal preference. I get pedicures in the summer and prefer natural nails for my hands year-round. My OB has cleared this and even seemed surprised I asked about it, so I'm not concerned about it during pregnancy. DD is perfectly healthy and well adjusted, so I guess I'm not terribly spooked by research that I haven't read about it.
