Racing heart/ hot feeling?

I have an appointment at 4:30 today, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a feeling like your heart is either skipping beats or racing.  I've had it a few times today on top of feeling really tired.  I have a blood pressure cuff and my BP was normal, but my pulse was the high side of normal for resting- 91 bpm.  I have also felt really hot off and on today.

The feeling just sort of comes and goes, but it's really scary when it hits. I wish my appointment was sooner in the day, but I'm hoping it's okay to wait. :/

I've been having similar symptoms. Would you mind updating your post after your appointment. I would love to hear what your doctor said

  • Same! Please let us know what you find out. I tried to explain these symptoms to my doctor and she didn't seem to have an answer for me.
  • That's how I feel when I am having a panic attack.

  • I had a similar experiance. I felt my heart racing followed by a hot flash then I got really dizzy. As this was all happening I was going to the bathroom at work and I actually fainted. The whole thing was a complete blurr. Then it happened again about 10 min later and my husband took me to the emergency room. It was all caused by extreme low blood pressure and nothing to do with the pregnancy. They told me to keep very well hydrated and to pay attention how I sit to stand or vise versa.
  • This has happened to me as well a few times. I agree with a previous poster who said it feels similar to a panic or anxiety attack.
  • I experienced this most of my 2nd trimester and it just came back recently. I have had resting heart rates up to 125 every now and again. My heart rate stays in the range of about 110 these days and I get hot and all of that. My doc sent the to a cardiologist to make sure my heart was ok and everything was fine. He says for some reason this happens during pregnancy to many women and it is normal. But if I were u I wud still get checked out to make sure it is nothing serious going on with you
  • I've had this since going on 16 weeks....I also have pvcs, or skipped heartbeats along with the racing heart...they did blood tests and found my potassium and magnesium levels were low so I am on supplements which have helped some, but I still have the symptoms everyday, just not as frequent...my cardiologist said that it can get worse in the 3rd trimester bc of our blood volume being at its peak...and mixed with anxiety of the impending birth of the baby it makes sense...i know when i first started having the symptoms i made them 100x worse bc it's all i focused on so the stress made my heart beat even crazier....just follow up with your doc to rule out anything else....(oh, and stay of of Googl... I was convinced I was going to drop dead after searching my symptoms)
  • I had this as well- Dr had the old "drink more water" advice. I tried but it still occurs- curious what your Dr had to say.

  • I had this more in the 2nd Trimester, too. Mine was hypotension - low blood pressure. My OB told me to up my salt intake and drink more water. Whenever I felt like this I would turn on an air conditioner (we have a window unit) and sit in front of it with a glass of water beside me to sip on. After a while, the feeling would pass, but especially on the bad days I had to lounge and put my feet up more.

  • It actually sounds like a panic attack. They are a lot more physical than some people realize. during pregnancy they can pop up out of no where even if you didn't have them prepregnancy
  • Agree it could be a flash of panic- they can come from out of the blue and last 1 minute or much more. I find letting cold water run over the inside of my wrists helps calm the physical effects
  • I had that today on my way back from work, i was basically gasping for air and sweating all over but it was because i didn't get a shaded parking spot and the car was boiling up and i hadn't eaten enough, i got home turned on the ac had iced water and some food snd was all good
  • My doctor said this is called Vasovegal episodes , can be from low BP. She advised that compression stockings help significantly! I have been experiencing the same, seeing stars and what not. She said to be careful when you feel like that because you actually will faint which is obviously a danger of you fall on baby or hit your head

Well, the doctor listened to my heart and lungs and said they're fine. My BP was also fine. He thinks it's being 39 weeks pregnant coupled with anxiety but I am telling you - I have been anxious for months and this isn't it. Tonight I came home and tried to lay down to nap but I've had to move to a recliner because I can't breathe on my side. Too bad I can't sleep laying in a recliner. It's a very scary feeling- like I'm not going to be able to catch my breath. I've gained twenty two pounds (around 145) and with the baby being smaller I can't believe it's her but maybe. We could have induced tonight but I wouldn't have had my OB. So God willing well get to tomorrow night safely.
