Large lump in breast accompanied with bleeding from the same breast's nipple- need input please

Im a FTM, 38.2 weeks and at about 35 wks, I noticed a large mass/lump in my right breast. I asked my OBGYN about it, he sent me to get a sono on my breast at which they told me it was nothing serious, not cancerous (Mind you that cancer is extremely common in my family), but did not give me a definite answer as to what it was. At that point, I just let it go, figured that Ill worry about it once my baby love is out, but as of last week, I noticed blood leaking from my nipple as well as noticed that the lump is a lot harder than it was initially. Ive brought it up to my physician's attention , again, and now I feel like he is finally listening, he will discuss the situation with a radiologist to see what the next best step for me would be considering I am 14 days from my due date- have any of you ladies had a similar experience, at least with the leaking blood from the nipple?? My doctor seemed genuinely stumped when I told him the whole situation, I cant help but be a little  worried over this...

    Yikes. I don't think blood leaking from a nipple has ever crossed my mind. So I can imagine just how worried you are over this. I don't have any advice or past experience with this but I do hope it's nothing serious. Please keep us updated.

    Thanks girly, I know, Ive never heard of anything like this and the fact that my Dr. seemed stumped over it definitely worries me =/

    I had blood leaking from my nipple after my first was born.  I was BFing but it wasn't coming from the outside where you would expect to see it (I had no cracked nipples, soreness, nipple trauma, etc.)  it was from the inside.  I called my MWs and they sent me for an u/s of my breast, it turned up nothing unusual and the bleeding stopped after a short time.  Turns out there is something, more commonly seen with FTMs called 'rusty pipe syndrome', more common soon after delivery but from what I have read it does sound like it can happen in pregnancy.  You might google it and read more about it.  If the lump you are describing came on all of a sudden it sounds more like something going on in the milk duct.  Is it painful to the touch? 

    Obviously follow the advice of your doctors as you are doing, but I don't think it's time to start to panic...easier said than done I know!
