The Waiting Game

Hi mommas.

I was wondering what is keeping you busy? I started maternity leave this week, because of some complications and am bored out of my mind. My son is not due for three more weeks. I am a full time high school teacher and am used to constant work and movement. Not only am I bored, but feeling miserable with constant pressure below! I am 1cm dilated and have even tried motivating my already 7 lb boy to get here (he is measuring 40 weeks) with spicy foods, sex, prenatal massage and walking.

So...like most of us May mommas, I'm miserable and bored out of my mind. I have already nested and my house is super clean...any other ideas? :0)

What keeps your mind off this wait?

Re: The Waiting Game

  • I'm a big DIY-ER. I plan on making some crib rail covers so that the baby won't gnaw on the rails when he gets older. I also have some cleaning and stocking to do before he makes his appearance. Find little things to do that will make life easier for you once your LO is here.

  • I'm a teacher as well and was put on leave last week. I've kept up the household chores (my house has never been SO clean!) and worked on stuff for the baby. I've also spent time with our pup. I've been told by multiple people the best thing I can do is relax and enjoy the time because once baby is here, it'll be hectic and exhausting.
  • I've been off since April 4th and due May 7th. I clean ALOT. Go on walks with my dog. Also diy. My nursery is beach themed and i have bags of seashells from the beach I'm using for shell art and I've been doing paintings. Right now I'm sewing a lace dress for her first pics by hand (by choice) just cuz it'll give me something to do for awhile.I've also been making recipes out my cookbook I've never had time to make.
  • Stocking the freezer and just enjoying being off. I've been a bit lazy and I don't regret it. Netflix is my best friend. I didn't realize just how stressed I was becoming at work until I've been off this week.

But yes. If you haven't cooked some meals in preparation for baby, I would suggest stocking the freezer. It will benefit you when baby is here and will keep you busy now.
  • I am a teacher who has been off since February 4th due to complications!!! Not only did winter take a toll but staying busy is important! I have done some sewing and caught up on some Netflix shows... Although the there are only so many to watch. I clean and organize a lot... I don't think I could do anymore. Days do get busy though. Try not to stress try to rest and enjoy. Believe it or not the time goes fast! Hang in there moms!
  • P.s. I'm not due until May 12th!
  • Haha any good netflix recommendations? I just finished Gilmore Girls
  • Buy a computer game. Those can keep me busy for days!
  • @mchipman88 - I just finished watching Friends (for the billionth time - watched the seasons backwards this time around). Now I'm watching Chuck and if I finish that then I'll be moving on to Grey's Anatomy.

I've been on modified bed rest since December. I've been doing LOADS of DIY stuff, cleaning, rearranging, napping and netflixing.

I would recommend waiting until the hormones go back to normal before you start Grey's. I've seen every episode already and am watching it again on Netflix right now, for the hormonal, preggo me it's really heavy. Like crying everyday heavy. Just a warning!
  • Watch Parenthood on Netflix!! It's the greatest show!! I just finished it .

  • Vikings on Amazon! I love that show! Rome is good too.
  • I probably need to get Netflix. I am not too crafty and am afraid I wouldn't know how to do any DIY tasks. I may start reading two or three books a day. Any suggestions? I cleaned today...ugh. I thought I would have so much to do but nesting kicked in months ago and I already organized everything! Thanks for all the suggestions ladies.
  • my last day of work is Thursday and I'm due Saturday so I don't have a ton of down time, but when I'm home I spend most of my time doing housework, shopping to make sure we have everything, walking my dog, and catching up on tv shows!!
