39 weeks and no signs of labor =[

I am 39 weeks and haven't had any signs of labor, not dilated or effaced! Anyone else in the same situation?? My due date is May 7th and we are debating to induce or not...any suggestions??

There are at least 5 posts identical to this one. Read before you start a new post.

And just like all those people were told, you can have signs of labor for weeks or not a single sign until it's time to have the baby. Both (and anything in between) are normal.

You absolutely should not induce without any medical reasons. First of all, if you're due May 7th, you won't be 39 weeks until Thursday. Secondly, inductions can lead to complications. Thirdly, 40 weeks is a guesstimate (and one that isn't even based on science), not an expiration date. First babies on average go to 41w1d. Let your body and your baby do what they are supposed to do.
    This.

    All of this x100.

There is a post literally a few down from this about being 39+4 with no labor signs. It's in the title.
  • Same !!!! May 7th as well... Come on little ones !!
  • As stated above, it doesn't really matter. I'm due 5/2, lost my plug (twice now!) was in the hospital Friday night for contractions every 3 minutes, dilated to 1.5, and I'm still pregnant... Apparently I'm not going anywhere.

I've been having this happen too. Lost Mucous plug completely last week, contractions and a few other signs and still, no baby yet. I'm 38-5 today and just tired. Baby will come when they want. There is no sure sign!!
  • That was sort of rude & snide of you. Why even comment if your going to be ignorant? This woman is just like any other lady on here, asking a question.. Geez
  • No one is being rude or ignorant. The fact is that you could have contractions for weeks, lose you mucous plug multiple times and still go all the way to 42 weeks before you have a baby.

No one can predict the future. That baby will pop out when it's good and ready.

    Relax, lady.

    Assuming you're referring to me....

I wasn't rude. Rude would be calling her names, telling her not to post here again, etc. Was I a bit short? Yes, deservedly so. But I also still answered her question after suggesting that she use the search bar. I doubt this is a legit poster anyway considering she doesn't seem to know how far along she is, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt anyway.

Also, I don't think "ignorant" means what you think it means. In fact, if anyone here is ignorant, it's the OP, because ignorant just means "lacking knowledge or awareness in general".
