C-section scar pain.

I had a c-section with my first daughter (2 years ago tomorrow!) and didn't have any problems with it healing up or anything.  I am in a lot of pain any time I stand up or move.  All the pain is located at my c-section scar on the inside.  The scar on the outside  is red and swollen. Is this normal?  I have a doctor appointment next Friday and will be bringing it up.  Debating whether or not to call tomorrow morning just in case.  I will be 27 weeks on Tuesday.

Definitely call, I've had tenderness/itching when I'm much bigger but never pain from the inside. Never, ever hurts to call - it could be totally normal or something that needs to be looked at ASAP. Not being able to walk would really concern me.

  • I have a small scar in my belly button that sometimes burns or hurts because of the stretching..but you saying it's red and swollen doesn't sound normal. I'd have the Dr look at it for sure
  • A red and swollen scar is definitely not a good sign, i'd be sure to tell your dr! I get pain and stretching around mine now from growing, but nothing like what you're experiencing. Good luck! Hope it eases off for you!

  • I called triage and the nurse paged the on call dr. immediately. I have to take tylenol, stay hydrated, put a heating pad on the incision line and keep my feet up for the rest of the night. If it still hurts in the morning (or if i start bleeding) i have to call my doctor.

  • Yikes! Can't offer any advice but hope all turns out wel for you! Good luck.
  • I have massive pain at my scar, which was over 4 years ago already, with walking moving.... Anything! Doc said I was ok, however the pain and redness of the scar doesn't sound like a normal thing to me.... That's what I'd want to bring up.
  • I had itching early on in my pregnancy at my c-section scar but no pain.....
Glad you called and hope you feel better quickly
