I've been having some nasty cramps. A few have happened in inconvenient places and I've almost doubled over and had to do breathing to manage it. I was in the middle of grocery shopping!
I've been having more mild ones mostly that come and go but are constant at times. I constantly feel like I'm on my period with these cramps!
Even warm baths aren't easing them up.
Anyone got any relief options to share that helped them? Been the story of my life now for a few weeks, and they're becoming more and more obnoxious and becoming stronger at times. Some of them come with some pulsing back ache as well! Double-whammy
Re: cramp relief?
But no offense, I don't buy the whole "has to be water" shenanigans. before pregnancy, I did not ever drink water--i despise water to drink. Like not even a small glass a day. So in other words, if water was all that mattered for hydration, I'd have been dead long ago lol probably years ago lol
The breathing has helped slightly. Slow deep breathing but I dunno if it's a distraction from them or a relaxation thing.
During labour I was planning on tub, birthing ball, counterpressure, different positions, and breathing. I took karate for years before my arthritis made me have to retire from it--thinking of using some of the meditation techniques I learned from it during labour.
But not sure how weird I'd look if I just took a meditation pose in the middle of a grocery store aisle in the middle of cramps lol
I've had these cramps constantly now for the last 2.5 weeks, every day, throughout both day and night. Some accompanied with some pretty darn intense braxton hicks, some with back pain, etc. Mostly they're annoying but the cramps are becoming a lot more stronger and are increasingly painful each day. Seems automatically I turn to breathing through them as my first reaction without thinking, but also looking for other options.
Starting to wonder if the tub will work for me since it's not helping much for cramps lol
Thank you for the advice
It just depends on what works for you. I really thought I'd do a lot of deep relaxation while lying on my side during contractions and cramps but so far, lying down makes them hurt worse, so I prefer being up and sometimes even moving around or at least bouncing/rolling my hips on the ball.
I hear you that this sucks, especially when you're out. Hang in there!
