TTC after 35

1st positive OPK

Ok ladies so I just noticed that my CM was a egg white like so on a hunch I tested with an OPk and it was positive!!! This is the first time I got a positive since I started this process. So am I correct to assume that I should have sex today and then tomorrow? Or even a few more days? Please advise!

Re: 1st positive OPK

  • Yes!! Today and tomorrow - definitely! Are you taking your temperature as well? I'd keep having sex every day until you see a rise in your temperature. Good luck (and have fun :-)!!!

    All welcome

  • Question... So I get the positive OPK yesterday, this mornin I wake up very crampy and spot blood. It looks and feels like my period. WTH?!? How is that possible? I think I may need a dr visit. My cycle is so wacky! Totally frustrated.
  • Did you only just take one OPK test randomly or were you taking them daily? Was it a digital OPK or one where you look at the line? If you are looking at a line remember that the line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line to be a positive. its not like a pregnancy test where any line means a positive.  If it was as dark or darker than the control line you may have just had a long LH surge and actually ovulated earlier or possibly not ovulated at all. Its best to take the OPKs daily starting at about 5-10 DPO depending on your cycle. Also taking your temperature helps because a positive OPK does not mean you ovulate 100% of the time, just that you had an LH surge. Taking your temp will confirm ovulation actually happened. Good Luck next cycle!
  • Just to correct myself, that shoudl have been 5-10 days following CD1 - not DPO, I was typing too fast
