TTC after 35

Took a break, but I'm back! FF is driving me crazy...

Hi Everyone!  I took a little hiatus.  I've been lurking, occasionally commenting, and liking your posts, but I just needed a break.  I'm back - but still on my TTC break.

I've been temping and did OPKs early on, mostly because my cycles are irregular and I wanted to be able to predict CD1.  I'm just not sure if I've ovulated because FF is being wacky and won't give me cross-hairs. Any charting experts want to weigh in?  My acupuncturist and I both feel I ovulated on CD 15 or 17, which is earlier than my normal, interestingly enough.  I've never ovulated on my own prior to CD 19.  That's why when I missed OPK on CD14, I didn't even think anything of it.  Oddly, even if I add a positive OPK on CD14, FF still doesn't give me crosshairs.  :(  What the heck is going on?

My temp dove this morning, so my best guess is ovulation was on CD15 and I should expect AF tomorrow after my usual 13 day LP.  Any thoughts??  Thanks guys!

Welcome to all the new people I missed while I was laying low.

  • I am not seeing a clear shift which is probably what FF is seeing too, so this could be an anovulatory cycle....

  • Yeah, the temps look a bit all over the place. I too have PCOS and have several cycles that look like this :-( It's so sad and frustrating.

My obgyn has me getting a progesterone blood test every cycle at 7dpo (or what I think is 7 days after my suspected O-day). That's the only way to confirm O for me and it's been really helpful in interpreting my charts. Not sure if that's an option or not for you. But based on what I see here (compared to what I've seen for myself), it looks anovulatory....But you never know until AF shows up...

  • It's so weird. I've charted a bunch of cycles prior to starting medicated cycles and even with my rocky temps and PCOS, I've always gotten cross-hairs. To add to my confusion, my ovaries hurt today so I took an opk and it was nearly positive. One of my cycles while TTC #1 was 56 days long .. Maybe this is just an extra long one. :( thanks for the input ladies.

  • Keep doung the opk's and see if you get a good shift. You could be 0ing really late. Our bodies like to keep us on our toes.

  • I second what pp's have said. keep temping and doing your opks and hopefully you'll see a clear shift. Good luck!

  • Yeah, I think it's bc your follicular phase temps are so high so it's not showing a clear shift. Maybe it is an anovulatory cycle? It's so frustrating. I've also noticed that ff wasn't giving me even the dotted crosshairs until i discarded one temp. So maybe they changed the algorithm to make it more strict with the luteal phase temps being higher than the follicular? Not sure. Keep temping and see what happens. =(

  • I've had some really long cycles as well and it's hard to keep tracking and trying for weeks on end. But yeah, maybe you just haven't O'd yet so I'd keep up with the temping and see what happens. I'm so jealous of those who ovulate regularly around cycle day 14 or 15, which means they're able to move on to the next cycle more quickly. Sigh, the life of PCOS....
