Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Stressed mom

Hello everyone!
My little one was born 6.13 oz and now at 3 months her weight is 9.10 her doctor said not to worry about it as she's exclusively breastfeeding and will gain weight differently than formula fed babies. She takes 3 to 3 and half ounce of milk every 2 to 3 hours but I'm thinking to up her intake so she can gain some weight. I'm stressing if she's eating enough..

Re: Stressed mom

  • My little one is 4.5 months and 10 pounds 15 ounces. She's not on the growth charts but she's happy and healthy. When I wanted her to gain more weight when she was born I breastfed then about 45 minutes later offered her a bottle that I had previously pumped to see if she would take any more. Seemed to get her to eat a little more.

  • That makes me feel much better. My LO is a very happy baby as well. But she's low on the percentile as far as her weight. Today I fed her 4 oz and she seems to be doing good.
  • I don't pay attention to those growth charts unless there's a big concern! My baby is in the 20th percent and I see it as they are going off baby's that are his age. But it doesn't say if it's based on baby's born after him, or full term! Mine was 2 weeks 3 days early and I worked a very physical job with him so I didn't gain much for weight, and he was my smallest baby. So I don't let them phase me as long as the Drs don't worry
  • If your Pedi isn't concerned then you shouldn't be either. Listen to the doctor.
  • Thanks ladies, she has an appointment on the 4th. Will keep you all posted. Praying for the best.
  • It's true every baby is different. My son was born 7 weeks early at 4lbs 9oz. He is exclusively breastfed at his 8wk appointment he was 10 lbs and 85th percentile on the full term baby charts! Was not expecting that! It just goes to show that every baby really is so different.
  • The appointment went really well. The doctor is not at all concerned about her weight. She said Breastfed babies grow at their own pace. And she's hitting all her milestones. Thank you everyone. Appreciate all the positive feedback
