I bought him pajamas, newborn diapers, and one can of formula (just in case my supply is crap like it was last time). Oh and I bought new tubing for my pump. I think that's it!
Since I'm an FTM I need the waterproof mattress covers for the crib.... I think it's a must but who knows. 1 pack of newborn diapers and 1 can of formula.

I would say it's needed if your mattress isn't already plastic-y covered. Ours is, so I just have a fabric mattress pad/cover over it that I wash every couple weeks, and I normally wash DD's sheet once a week, unless pee or snot or something happens before then!

I read a good tip about this...while our mattress is covered, i read that if you layer the sheets/waterproof pads (like pad, sheet, pad, sheet, pad, sheet) then it's easier if you have an accident in the middle of the night because you just remove the top sheet and pad and go back to bed because you already had another sheet and pad right underneath. sounds easier than having to remake the crib. think i'm going to try it. but i'm a FTM too, so i have no idea how useful this is. :-)
This is going to sound horrible, but I registered at Target just for the discount. The only people that know that I am registered is my Mom and sister. Well, they don't discriminate what you can put on your registry. So technically, I'm registered for pjs for me and a fire pit.
I have been so focused on getting stuff for the baby I forgot about me! I need to get nursing pads, nursing bras and maybe a robe or nightgown for the hospital. I also want to get some travel size items so I can make up a toiletry kit that won't take up so much space. My beauty supplies can get out of control lol. Oh and cotton briefs!

I did the same thing. I also have an amazon registry, just to get the discount. I used my maiden name for both and didn't list a father ... What a skank!!!!

I done this before... Then I went to pull up the first layer... Everything came up .lmao
I did have a question about formula - if I want to pick up a can as backup in case my supply isn't sufficient, what brand do you all recommend?
Haha! LED lights...we need another Hospital Bag thread, just for the laughs!
Here is my opinion on formula, but it depends on your hospital. They will give you samples, a ton of samples! They will also include a carrying case. With my boys, our pediatrician recommended Gerber Good Start. When we left the hospital, we left with a trunk full of formula. The nurses at my hospital weren't stingy because the formula companies give them the formula for free to pass out. So be nice to your nurses My hospital also supplied all of the equipment for pumping (like the shields, lanolin, the pump thingies you know the things you put on your boobs). Also, when you visit your pediatrician ask for samples. My one son is still on a specialized formula (at $50 for a 2 day supply) and our GI always gives us a ton after each visit.
My friend just gave birth the other week and suggested big Hanes underwear if you don't want to wear the hospital ones! Needless to say at my target run yesterday I picked up an 8 pack of XL undies! Also a pair of slippers. I feel like Im forgetting so many things and have looked at so many different hospital bag lists. But all I know is when it comes to what I need ... As long as I have Chapstick I'm set!

I had a case of the glass bottle enfamil on hand ... It relieved my anxiety about breastfeeding because I knew it was there ready to go.... Never needed it until I actually started using formula later on but it was such a relief to be in my cabinet!
I got recommendation of disposable diapers for the first couple of days... Instead of the mesh panties at the hospital.... So I picked up a pack for try... Also stool softener just in case of those hemmoroid

I recently found out that my hospital actually supplies LED candles in L&D rooms. My first thought: I have to post a picture of this to June 15 when I'm in labor.
I WAY overpacked for my first. This time I'm packing 3-4 pairs of comfy maternity/yoga pants and bfing tank tops, two thin robes, slippers, socks, lots of underwear, toiletries, large towel, phone charger, iPad, phone, pads, cash ($30), hair ties, Chapstick, lotion, two sizes of outfits for LO (3), a few disposable diapers, snacks and camera.
The hospital I use provides pads, disposable underwear, squirt bottle for your vagina, witch hazel pads, donut to sit on for hemorrhoids, diapers (reusable), wipes, and breast feeding supplies and pump, bottles, swaddle blankets, and hats.

I second the suggestions on getting samples everywhere....the stuff is so dang expensive! I've had great luck with signing various friends/family members up for Enfamil samples/coupons and they bring them to me, and then when I don't have any, DD will drink the Walmart brand or the Sam's club brands of Enfamil. Yikes....formula can KILL you!
@ElRuby Okay you might be a genius! I've heard of "padsicles" but I like your idea better. Now I'm wondering if Bottom Spray can go in the fridge or if it makes no difference ..hmm.

In the hospital they provided these thick pads that would turn very cold when bent... Not sure how to find them IRL but I would recommend stocking up on them if you happen to see a supply in the hospital!
So are the Tucks and witch hazel both just for general vag swelling, or for hemorrhoids? Or both, God help us?
Also, this isn't exactly the right place for this, but if you make it all the way to delivery without hemorrhoids, are you still likely to get them from pushing/delivery or maybe not? I mean, I know everyone doesn't get them, but I want some cold hard facts!
@Frogger5 Tucks are pads with witch hazel in them. My box says it's for hemorrhoids but on the side it says it can also be used after childbirth to soothe the vag too.
& I'm on standby for someone to answer your second question. I wanna know too!
@Frogger5 I don't often see hemorrhoids while pushing if they weren't there before (internal or external). Usually mom will mention it before pushing or her concerns, but I really don't see them all the time. Don't be confused there are some legit heinous ones I've seen but it's not the norm. Just try your best to prevent them before delivery, because they don't pop up in a matter of hours for pushing (usually).

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
I think I've purchased everything I need. I do need to get down to basement for the swing, car seat, bouncy seats, pump, etc. I'm not looking forward to all the clutter but I need to get it all washed. I probably need to get dd used to everything. She'll think they are her toys at first but will get bored quickly.

I didn't get hemorrhoids until after I gave birth. There was a lot of pushing so I guess that's why. They were an issue for a few months after. I used mama bottom balm and it was pretty good.
Thinking Target buys for mama : Nipple cream Breast pads Maxi skirts/dresses Housecoat Comfy oversized panties Comfy nursing bra Slippers Breast pump
For the LO: Sleepers (not just the little sleeping bag ones, but the kind that will allow him to sit in the car seat) Gloves Hat Blankets Pacifier you want to use one (give it to the nursing staff in advance so they don't accidentally introduce him to something else before hand)

I think you could use the tucks, dermoplast, etc. for anything you want! But I used them after birth and for a couple weeks while healing from my tearing and just the general pushing a baby out of my privates. I never had hemorrhoids during pregnancy with DD, or yet with this one, but I did get them after birth! Wasn't tooooo terrible (was able to manage with hemorrhoid cream), but I also kept the stool softeners handy!
I purchased a "push pack" from Amazon because I had no clue what to pack. Don't do it. It's mostly samples and a waste of money. Although, my toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, nipple cream, etc is already packed thanks to it.
These suggestions are great! This kind of goes in this thread-- any nesting to do's that you STMs think are important to get done before baby comes?
I would have a couple of meals in the freezer. Maybe have your DH make a trip to the grocery store when you are in the hospital to fill the fridge with cold cuts, milk, snacks, bread, and cereal.
Also, see if your hospital will fill your meds before discharge. Last time my husband took 2 hours to get my pain meds!
