2nd Trimester

Anyone else here have arrhythmia?

I got diagnosed with arrhythmia about 5 years ago. I'm on my 2nd baby right now, and I've noticed that pregnancy seems to make it worse. Does anyone else have this, and is there anything that I could ask my doctor about taking to help regulate my heart rate when it starts to do funny things? I've never been prescribed anything for it before, although my doctor told me back when I was diagnosed that I could get a prescription for it if I wanted it. I'm just tired of trying to do something as simple as clean the house and end up having to sit down after 30 minutes because I'm really light headed since my heart rate isn't regular. I'm currently 25 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and I have a doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon.

Lurking from first tri (11 weeks) but I have paroxysmal svt which is an arrhythmia And being pregnant I've definitely noticed its more frequent, as a nurse I would guess its related to the increased blood flow which caused increased work load on your heart. Do you just have a sinus arrhythmia? It's definitely something I would mention to your md in case they want you to wear a holter our something.

Eta: the likely drug they would give you would be a beta blocker because I think most anti arrhythmics are class x, and a beta blocker is going to make you more tired just a forewarning.

  • I was going to say prob get a beta blocker most of the other meds you should not take in pregnancy and you certainly would not be started on while pregnant. Just take it easy.
