Metformin ?

hi everyone- I am 14 weeks 5 days pregnant after 8 IUI tries. I was on Metformin for about a year before conceiving for insulin resistance related to PCOS. My OB has recently taken me off the Metformin for the remainder of my pregnancy. I am concerned about gestational diabetes and am wondering if staying on the Metformin would prevent this. I have read accounts where people were kept on the Metformin the entire pregnancy. Do any of you have any experience with this or advice, etc? Thanks so much for your time and good luck to you all!

    I have no insight...but just wanted to say congratulations!


    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)

    I was also on metformin prior to and during the first trimester of both of my pregnancies. It is my understanding that it depends on your doctor. Mine felt that staying on the metformin wouldn't really allow them to know if I truly had gestational diabetes. He preferred to wean me off and then have me take the glucose tolerance test early and then again at the "normal" time during pregnancy. Had I failed the test they would have placed me on other meds to treat if needed.

    TTC #2 since 2011 (took 1.5 years to conceive spontaneously after multiple failed clomid cycles and 1 failed clomid +IUI)
    Me- PCOS, borderline hypothyroid
    Him- low concentration/count

    Feb 2014- started acupuncture
    Feb 2014- BFP
    March 2014- m/c @ 5 weeks
    May 2014- HSG, all clear, started Synthroid, Femara 5mg CD 3-7 + trigger + TI= BFN
    Waiting for new RE appointment end of July 2014

    I was on Metformin for PCOS until the day before my retrieval during IVF.  Good luck!

    IVF #2 - Transfer 2 embryos 11/14/14; BFP 11/24/14 - Beta 265;
    11/26/14 - Beta 612; 11/28/14 - Beta 1263; 12/1/14 - Beta 3571;
    12/3/14 - first u/s - two gestational sacs; 12/17/14 - two healthy heartbeats (132 and 134)
    Our IVF miracles were born 7/16/15

    I too was on metformin for years during the infertility process, also for insulin resistant PCOS. I was taken off at 15 weeks by the endocrinologist, she said something about a study reporting it messed with the baby's sugar after birth. Later after an OB switch, that doctor stated she preferred to have her patients remain on for the pregnancy. They made me test early and at the regular time as well, both normal.

    Me: 38. Diagnosed PCOs 09, took 'em long enough. Low Thyroid 13.
    SO: 41. Diabetic. We are not married yet in the legal sense. 
    Together since Feb 09. TTC since Jan 11.
    6 Clomid cycles. Mostly BFN one BFP but chemical Aug 12.
    IUI #1-3 Menopur and Ovidrel BFN. 
    IUI #4 Gonal-F and Ovidrel BFN.
    IUI #5 Gonal-F and Ovidrel BFP 9/15 
    Maternit21 all clear and a boy!
