False alarm

Ok so I'm thinking I need to go to the hospital to check to see if I have a slow leak in my water breaking or if it's just discharge. I've been experiencing it since 7am, it's clear and odorless, however it is mucus like. I have already lost my mucus plug. My question is how did they treat you at the hospital if you went in and it wasn't your water breaking? Were they nice or did they act like you should know the difference?

Re: False alarm

  • Does it matter? You're better being safe than sorry. If they're mean just remind them that they're professionals and you're not. They're paid to know the difference and you're not. Don't be afraid to be your own advocate. If they're mean just ask to speak to someone with "better bedside manner."

  • They see it all the time better safe then sorry
  • Better safe than sorry. If it were me, I'd go. We had a tour last night and I told the L&D nurses, "See you in a few days!". They laughed, but it's true. We will be there probably within the week.
  • I went last night for this exact reason . It was not amniotic fluid but the nurses were so great about it. They said to come in everytime I'm unsure because if it is your water leaking that it's a big risk of infection for baby. Go get checked for peace of mind.

  • My dr told me to come in even if I'm not sure. She said that if it is a leak I need to be at the hospital, if it's not they just would send me home
  • My Dr checked me when this happened.

  • I did this yesterday and they were as nice as could be! The 2 nurses and resident Dr were all very supportive and told me several times that I did the right thing coming in even though it was a false alarm. "Better safe than sorry!" Was practically their motto. lol They probably see that all the time and are used to it. Especially with FTMs that aren't sure what to watch for! Just go in and have them check. It can't hurt.
