The calls have started . . .

Im 37w4d and the obnoxious but well meaning calls from family and friends have officially started. I've gotten 3 today already asking me if I'm in labour yet. Guess what world, I'll let you know when I want you to know!! That's why there are a million ways to get in touch with people these days!!

Re: The calls have started . . .

  • My husband's mom asked him about the status of my cervix yesterday since he told her I had my check up appointment...At least every one knows not to ask me I guess!

  • I stopped visiting my in laws because that's all they fucking talk about, and they make it sound like it's my fault i'm still preggo and give me remedies to induce, how about you shut the hell up and let me be?!
  • I'm almost 39 weeks. My mom calls every day, but I didn't start getting them until I was on maternity leave. My MIL doesn't seem too interested in the baby after all it is her 5th grandchild, so she's not as excited about her. Oh, and it's a girl and it's not her daughter having a baby, just her son. Anyway....sideline the bitterness and moving on. She has ask the personal nurse-type questions such as, "Have you lost your mucus plug yet?" "Are you boobs leaking?" Yes, because I want to have this conversation with my MIL. Thank you.
  • As annoying as it is, the opposite is pretty lousy too. BD's mom won't acknowledge our son. He's been begging her to come up for the birth and she'll change the subject. If he mentions the baby she gets quiet. He thought for sure with this being her first grandchild she would be as excited as he is. My parents have 5 grand kids (this will be #6 and #7 is due in August) and they are elated. They ask every time I call them if it's baby time, everyone at work is super excited. I would LOVE to give them the news about now lol

  • I agree the other end of the stick sucks. None of my family ask me how I am. My dad will come over and I'm napping and he tells me I shouldn't be, that I should be getting my body used to no sleep.(men, ugh) this is my second so I know the run down, but itd still be nice for someone to care how I'm feeling or what the Dr says at the appointment. Dh doesn't really even ask, if I didn't volunteer the info I don't know if he'd ever ask. I have to pull teeth to talk to my mom for more than 5 minutes.
  • I agree that no attention to baby is just as bad. I wish there could be more middle of the road - interested but not in your face pressure.
  • I wish I had someone calling and checking in on me.... I'm jealous I guess.
  • The calls just started today!
  • I can totally relate to this!! I don't mind so much when my family checks on me but I have a co worker who is a bit overbearing and thinks we're bffs (we're not, we just sit next to each other).

She had been checking in at the same time every day and I know she means well but I literally just get so annoyed!!! 35 weeks tomorrow with twin boys so yes it could be any day but I kinda just want to scream at her "I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I WANT YOU TO KNOW!!!"

Lol I've been feeling guilty about getting annoyed so this post made me feel better :)
  • I send a text message to our siblings and parents after each appt so I don't have to make or receive 6 calls.

  • My SIL is the one that's asking all the questions here. I always give myself a few minutes to answer her texts because I know the first thing I want to say isn't the right thing to say. I'm just not the type of touchy feely overly sharing type of person and I just can't do the cutsie talk. I know she means well so I just need a few breaths. She asked the other day if we were going to call her to tell her we were on the way to the hospital. Both my husband and I said no at the same time, which sounded harsher than we meant it. But we aren't even telling our parents about the baby until he is here. Oddly enough, our dog sitter will most likely know first.
