STM -bottle recommendations for Breastfeeding

Hi there. I was hoping to get the opinion of some second time mom's who breastfed their other kids. I got the Tommee tipee starter set at my shower but I read that I should have another brand on hand in case when we start introducing bottles, and the baby doesn't take to the style/ nipple right away. (I hope to stay home at least 8 weeks but it will all come down to financials).
Looking for feedback on what worked for you? (Seeing how EVERY brand claims to have the "most natural latch" style ).

Thanks in advance!

Re: STM -bottle recommendations for Breastfeeding

  • I am a ftm but I chose munchkin latch bottles for when we do bottle feed, I've had a lot of positive feedback from my mommy friends that have breastfed, they say it's the easiest to go from breastfeeding to bottle and back :) hope that was helpful

  • Tommee Tippee worked excellent for us. We gave it to her just before 3 weeks. I nursed her first, then dh offerred the bottle. She didn't drink much, but enough for us to know she could/would use it. After that, we offered a bottle every 3-4 days- again, just a little bit. I'd nurse before and after, too. And she did fine with it. So we never tried anything else. But this time- I bought a glass baby bottle that looks very similar to playtex. Giving that one a shot only becuase it's glass. But we have lots of Tommee Tippees on hand in case baby doesn't like it.
  • STM here, my oldest is almost 5 & none of those bottles out today were around. If you are planning on breast & bottle, 6-8 weeks will be plentiful time to have a good routine. I started pumping at 4 weeks & he was fine.
  • Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottles. We loved our Tommy Tippee bottles until we tried those.
  • My sister has a 6 month old and has been going between breast and bottle since he was born using the tommy tippee.
  • STM here. I used, and will use again, the mimijumi bottle. It mimics a breast in shape, color, and texture. No nasty plastic either! Hope you find something you like.
  • 3TM. I used the Playtex nursery with the drop-in sleeves for my two babies. It worked pretty well. This time around I'm trying out the Kiinde system. It's a feeding system with breast milk pouches that hooks up to most pumps. You pump, store and feed using the same pouch. I'm a sucker for trying new things so I guess I'll see how this goes.
  • We used dr Browns and had no issues.

  • I was given Tommee Tippee bottles from a seasoned breastfeeding mom. She swore by them and knows that I will exclusively be breastfeeding and pumping. This is my third child, but I gave up shortly after with my first two and just switched to formula. This time, I plan on working hard at maintaining my plan!
  • I used something with a green nipple with #1 and #2, with #3 I used evenflo glass bottles and this time I got kiinde.

I used dr. Browns with my first but this time I'm using the kiinde twist feeding system too. I have talk to a lot of bf moms that are so excited about this system and love using it. I hope my LO likes the bottles it looks soooooo simple and is going to make storing and thawing and pumping so easy.
  • We used the Medela ones since a few came with my pump. They worked just fine. We nursed and bottle fed with no issues.
  • I'm a 3TM I breastfeed both of my daughters for up to 1yr & 3mths each(that was 13yrs & 15yrs ago)and I used the Avent bottles this time I'm sticking to what I know I noticed that they changed the nipple a little,so I'm going to see how that works for me.
  • The medela nipple were the only ones my daughter liked.... I ended up giving away all the rest.... This time I'm starting with medela and see how it goes...
