Due June 8th with my first, getting nervous....

Anyone else due around the 8th with their first baby? I'm starting to get a little freaked out. And there are so many things that still need done and purchased, I'm just always so exhausted!! Do I vaccinate? Do I not vaccinate? What vaccines should I allow if I want middle ground? HELP!!! Haha.

Re: Due June 8th with my first, getting nervous....

  • I am due the 9th FTM I am also super nervous. Not so much about vaccinating but currently about epidurals. But yes haven't got much stuff cause my shower is Saturday and I have been waiting. Plus my nursery isn't decorated yet although May isn't very busy so guess it'll give me something to do to pass the time.

  • Vaccinations are a huge topic that has been beaten to the ground. Search function is where I would start.
  • I'm due June 7th with my first and I'm a little nervous about certain things, like what labor will be like, if I'll have trouble breastfeeding, etc. Vaccines are not something I'm questioning... I am certainly going to vaccinate my daughter. But I get where you're coming from with the nervousness around buying the rest of the baby stuff. My shower isn't until May 17th so I'll be rushing to make last minute purchases very close to my due date... Hopefully nothing big like the car seat! But my nursery is done aside from a few decorations here and there. Good luck!
  • Try not to freak out about "stuff". If you have some clothes, diapers and wipes on hand (and formula/ bottles if needed)... You won't need much else during those first few days. You can always send someone or order the things you need off of amazon after that. Don't stress about strollers and shot like that!

  • I'm due June 4 and a FTM! I have been freaking out all week. I've been organizing and then reorganizing everything! Plus it doesn't help we are moving in July!!!!! So I feel your pain! Just take one day at a time. That's what I've been doing.

I've decided to be brave and do it all natural, no drugs, nothing! my mom bought me the most amazing breastfeeding book, "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" and it has me convinced that 1) there's no other way to better care for your child and 2) drugs are going to make it harder to successfully begin breastfeeding. Not to mention no epidural means possibly faster labor, and faster recovery. It takes a few days for an epidural to wear off of your baby's system, which causes them to be slower and can make breastfeeding more difficult and frustrating. I'm determined to do everything possible to make that go smoothly.

I got the coolest travel system jogging stroller that I cannot wait to use! Thought about putting my puppy in it and taking her for a walk, haha!!

Finally got a glider for the nursery today so that's exciting. I think all that's left to really do in there is organize and put away clothes. I feel like we don't have enough clothes!! How many outfits does one little girl need?! I don't even know if she'll fit in the newborn stuff, doctors are predicting over 8 pounds....YIKES!!!

Oh, what's everyone packing in their hospital bag?! So far I have a toothbrush and footies with grips on the bottom....I'm at a loss!

    Why wouldn't you vaccinate?

  • I'm due June 8th with my first as well! Although I have been incredibly lucky, because she will be the first grandchild on my side of the family so I have had everything I've needed and then some since about month 5. Butttt I am starting to stress about the labor process some. A lot of times I'm in the "I just want to not be pregnant anymore" mindset. But then other times I'm like holy crap, this is gonna be painful huh? Then my mom tells me stories about how she was in labor for three days with me and I was two weeks late...thanks mom that's reassuring. But, like PP said, one day at a time. It will all be worth it when I get to hold her in my arms!!!!
  • I am due June 7... I am getting nervous of when wil contraction starts and how would it feel like... Bc I haven't even felt any Braxton hicks.... I say vaccinate!!!
  • Im a FTM due june 8th definitely starting to get nervous. I live across the world from my family and thats nerve racking I have my partner and he is amazing but kinda wish I had my mom here too. Im feeling nervous about not having enough clothes and I keep repacking and unpacking my hospital bag as well definitely hardcore nesting.

I think definitely vaccinate, so important. But read up and educate yourself on the ones they recommend right away so you know what you are vaccinating about.
  • I haven't done any actually research on vaccinating vs not vaccinating, just asked family opinions so far. My cousins, both doctors, opted not to vaccinate their kids, so they are providing me with some articles to check out. I've also got cousins who wouldn't dream of not vaccinating. I guess I just need to know which ones are absolutely necessary, because I don't like the idea of filling my child with unnecessary crap because "they" say I should. Lol!

I've added to my hospital bag! 2 outfits for baby Henley, 1 is newborn and 1 is 0-3 months (since she'll be huge I wanted to be safe). Also packed some butt paste and my nursing cover....what else what else....

  • Due June 6 with baby number one, and I'm blissfully (and perhaps unwisely) devoid of stress.
Nesting hasn't sunk in, but the labor anxiety has. Going for all natural, but who knows, trying to be open. Shower is next weekend. Both sides of grandparents are in the other side of the country, haven't sorted out maternity leave, baby is sleeping with us, so no nursery...
I'm not bragging by any means, as a FTM I'm really hoping I'm not the only one who may be winging it...
But I do know baby is getting his shots.

  • Due June 9th! I have a shower May 9th and one May 14th. Crib will be here Sat and dresser/changing will be here 5/28-6/11. No other decorations up and we have a glider...really have nothing else because I'm waiting for my showers. I feel that I'm behind on knowing what I want for the birth plan: cutting cord, kangaroo care, cleaning/weighing the baby, breastfeeding or formula and such. I do know we are vaccinating and I want the drugs! I feel that I'm just going to wing it and go with the flow...since that is what I've been doing this whole time...maybe it's because my DH and I are older and just care about one thing: delivering a healthy baby girl and however she gets here is fine by us! I'm more worried about work then anything!

I enjoyed reading everyone's posts, I am due June 10th with first baby. Excited and a little nervous. I am really trying to relax mentally and envision a smooth labor. I try and remember, woman have been doing this for a long time and our bodies are designed for it. However, it's still f**king scary! LOL. I am personally going to vaccinate, I feel it's very important, I have a few friends who spread them out which I get, we may do that with a few. We are pretty much ready, I started nesting early and had to stop working due to the physical nature of my job so I have had time. In regards to the epidural, I personally what the 'option' of it, I probably will end up doing it. I am 34 and don't have the highest tolerance for pain. I want what's best for baby girl but I also have heard sometimes the epidural can help if you are not relaxing enough. Who knows, it's a very personal choice. And in regards to birthing bag; So far I got baby outfit with cap and little socks, baby blanket, extra change of clothes, underwear, facial wipes, pads, Tylenol, toothbrush/paste, rose water and lavender oil for relaxation and warm socks. I will probably grab a pillow too. A friend of mine just told me to bring blow pops/suckers, something about the big sucker in the mouth helps, I laughed but she has had three successful births, all natural so I'll take the advice. Good luck ladies!

Due June 7th! Also due to being the first grand-baby on this side of the family there isnt much that we dont need. I already had my baby shower with friends, which I mainly got clothes from. My aunt is throwing me another baby shower for all the family at the end of May.

I have mine and baby's bag ready to go for when the day comes. Have yet to get nervous even though this is my first and I have had plenty of people (including step daughters mother) try to feed me horror stories. The way I look at it is its a natural thing, women have been doing it for all time and there are so many options if things don't go as planned, and my OB and med staff will know whats best if my birth plan doesn't work.  Anytime I have second thoughts or worries I just tell myself if all the other ladies out there can do it then so can I and there is no reason to get worked up about the inevitable. Its gonna happen whether I'm nervous or not.

Not even questioning the vaccine thing, honestly not vaccinating was never an option. I'm sure they are great arguments for both sides but my baby girl WILL be getting all recommended vaccinations.
