Outdoor "Toy" for 1 year old?

DH & I like to sit outside by our patio set in the nice weather. Anything I can get DD for her to join us and keep occupied (and more "contained"). We used the bouncer over last Fall but she is almost 1 and over that. Not walking yet but crawling and we have 2 dogs so I don't want to give her free range over the yard....

Re: Outdoor "Toy" for 1 year old?

  • I just got our daughter an inflatable kiddie pool. If the weather is warm she can just splash around while we watch :-) throw a couple bath toys in there and she should be entertained for a while.
  • Loading the player...
  • I second the inflatable pool idea or a water table.  My youngest turned 1 last July and had a blast playing with the water table.  She wasn't quite able to walk yet but could pull herself up and enjoyed splashing around!

  • I third the pool idea. If its still chilly you can do the ball pit balls in it instead of water!
  • Water table and sandbox are giant hits here with both my girls (22 months and 4.5 yrs).

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • You could set up one of those play yards (not pack n play, but the hexagon gated play area products) so she's in an enclosed space where she can play with toys and crawl around while keeping the dogs away from her.

  • I'm trying to get my hands on a kangaroo climber but my 1 year old is walking, climbing and lives slides.

We have a little tikes garden that he has reall enjoyed playing with for the last 6 months. Got it on kijiji.
  • Any other budget-friendly sugegstions, anyone?
  • Blow up pool to double as a ball pit or get some card board boxes and set her in them to color.
  • My little boy loves sidewalk chalk-- although it's messy! We also like to fill a Tupperware bowl with water and use a paintbrush to "paint" the driveway with water... Bubbles are fun too!
  • My nephew loves sidewalk chalk as well!
