STM diaper bag

Is it necessary to buy another diaper bag for baby #2 or can we just throw everything in one bag? Thoughts?

Re: STM diaper bag

  • I guess in my opinion it depends on how old your other child is, if you don't have to pack a lot then you should be able to fit it all in one. I bought another one and the only time I really use the extra is if the kiddos have an overnight stay anywhere.

  • I agree that it depends on the age of the older child. Also makes a difference if your breastfeeding or not. Bottles and formula take up a lot of room.
I'm planning on just using the diaper bag I currently have.
  • Just one should be enough for my kids. My 4yr old is toilet trained and I'll just have nappies for my 18mth old and the new baby. Plus all the other stuff - sun cream, water bottles, wipes, snacks, change of clothes for each kid, crayons and colouring in book etc.

On second thought maybe I need a Sherpa rather than a nappy bag. :-?
  • My dd is 2 so I just got another bigger diaper bag. It wasn't necessary, but i got a good deal on it.

  • I got a backpack diaper bag that's big enough to pack for 2 kids and then I find it much more convenient to wear it on my back while I'm trying to hold the hand of a 3 year old and carry an infant carrier. I got sick of the carrying a big bag of stuff on my shoulder and found this much more comfortable and convenient
  • I have a 3.5 year old so she has her bag packed that always stays in the car with extra clothes just in case of accidents and sun screen and things. I got a new bag for baby. I'm way to ocd to have 2 kids packed in one bag :/
  • I'm throwing into the second one. And not packing nearly as much as I used to. Just diapers and wipes and one extra onesie. We don't go more than half an hour away from home. If we do- I'll pack extra on that day. Otherwise, no need. I'll be carrying the baby and bag and chasing a toddler.
  • I bought a second diaper bag because my DD is 2.5 and likes to carry her bag (backpack) "like a big girl" so I found a really nice diaper bag at a garage sale, such a bargain I couldn't pass it up!
  • Thank you ladies! All great input. Very much appreciated.
  • I bought another diaper bag just to continue on my daughters Purple/Lilac color scheme thing I've got going on! With my first daughter her color scheme was pink and lime green so I figured I'd do the same things for my second daughter as I did for my first! This way when they get older my second daughter won't feel like the "hand me down queen"!
  • I'll be using the same bag. Dd has a little butterfly backpack that I use for some of her toys. I can't imagine carrying a 3rd bag. I'm always overstuffed so I'm not sure how I'll fit more.

  • When I had my two under 3 yrs old, I just bought a bigger bag and put it all in there. One bag per child would never have worked for me since I tend to forget things all the time.

This time around, since my kids are older, I'm just going to use one of my older Coach purses to carry diapers, wipes, change of clothes, ointment, and all the rest. It's a bigger one but still pretty. Planning on breastfeeding so I won't need to bring all the bottles and formula and bottled water like I did with my DS.
  • I would fit it in one bag, one way or another.  Carrying around 2 diaper bags sounds like way too much work.  We have been using a small bag for DD, she is 3 but not potty trained yet.  When DS comes we will switch back to a bigger bag to accomodate his stuff too.
