Yes!!! Been having braxton Hicks too so figured it might be due to dehydration but Yes, crushed ice and I'm just eating glass after glass. I never had this problem before either.

  • Currently eating ice
  • I am like this too, and I am anemic and taking iron.

I know this is weird, but at the Costco food court, if you order a fountain drink, the ice that comes out of the machine is awesome. It's some kind of special crushed ice. This has been my thing lately....
  • I started eating ice 3 weeks ago. I knew it was the start of anemia. That was confirmed this week during a blood draw.

It's a form of pica. A side effect of low iron. Def get checked or even just call your doc to see if it's ok to start otc iron pills.

  • Yeah I agree with the PP, it's a sign of low hemoglobin levels.
  • I've been (aware that I'm) anemic since I was 19. I've been a vegetarian for 22 years so when I was told I have low iron it wasn't surprised.
I'm taking my prenatal and an iron supplement as well but still want ice. It's kind of just a habit now.
  • I've had the most intense craving for ice, I eat it all day. I was tested for anemia at my last appt and was ok.
  • My friend wasn't anemic and ate several culls of ice a day when she was pregnant. Not always because of iron...could be because you're weird lol
  • I love ice!! I don't eat it all day everyday, but sometimes, that craving hits HARD lol
  • Eating it right now...I like it a lot ...tested for anemia...iron was low
  • I go to my doctor appt tomorrow I will mention this to him ... Because it's so impossible for me not to eat ice ....
  • I chew ice all day every day! However I'm not anemic..... But it does give me heartburn which is terrible..... Who would have connected ice and heartburn.
  • I've known I was anemic since I was in high school, I've had to take iron supplements and eat lots of iron rich foods. Well this pregnancy alone has been the first time in my life where my iron levels are completely normal, and yet I still crave ice (sonic ice to be exact! Thank goodness the sell it in bags!! ) I checked with my doctor as soon I started having craving and my levels are still fine.
  • Agreed with all the PP's I work for a Hematologist/Oncologist and ice cravings is usually a big sign of anemia.
  • Doc told me last time I was there that I had low iron, so Im not surprised that craving ice is a sign. Taking my iron, but still craving ice.

  • Yep me too. I did with my last pregnancy as well. I have heard iron deficient. Haven't been tested yet. Go to Dr . Next week. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Everyone reminds me that it's bad on my teeth. Oh well could be worse cravings to have.
  • This is a sign of picca, mild, and is usually from anemia! Can be really bad for your teeth. You should check with your doctor as u may need some iron supplements.
  • Ice is destroying my relationship.  lol. j/k. DH hates the sound and complains every time he hears me crunching.  Last night I ran him out of the bedroom.  I felt horrible...but still finished my cup of ice.   :)
