Bump curiosity

Hi girls!

This may be a bizarre question, but can anyone else actually bounce their baby in the fluid in their tummy? No joke, when the baby is resting against my tummy, I can push it into the fluid and it bounces back against my hand quite hard. It's a really strange feeling - can anyone else do this or am I just weird?

My bump used to be really hard and now it's totally changed consistency - it's soft and squishy. Anyone else experiencing bump changes?

I also thought that at some point I'd be able to figure out different parts of the baby by feeling my bump, like a head or limb, turns out I have no clue whatsoever!

Re: Bump curiosity

  • I haven't experienced the bouncing sensation but I do have a general sense of where things are. She has definitely been head down for at least a few weeks. Either her knees or her feet are up by my ribs - I think her feet. And I can frequently feel one of her hands on my left side.

  • @karaelaine1991 you sound like you have much more of a clue than I do! - I'm jealous :)

Haha well it's probably just how baby's positioned in there... mine is probably closer to my skin than yours is. Plus I'm constantly feeling my bump to try and figure it out lol. I can only feel her head when I'm laying down, it feels like a softball down in my pelvic area!

  • Due to my low amniotic fluid, you can feel exactly where baby is - head, shoulder, butt, etc. When she tried to extend her neck or back my stomach looks downright freaky.
  • The other thing with mine is she moves CONSTANTLY. Kicks are always up by my ribs and hiccups are always down by my hips. And she hiccups a lot lol

  • @knwilliams01 Wow that you can make all that out! I think I must have a really big bag of fluid or something. My friend was touching my bump last night and he was like "wow, it feels like a balloon!"
  • @karaelaine1991 I can't feel anything in my pelvic area but I think the little one hiccups too. I get lots of "large" movement - where it all of a sudden slowly moves from one side to the next.

Damn that no one else can get the baby to bounce in there though - I get a proper ricochet going on!

  • All I know is that she likes to kick me in the ribs and punch in the center of my belly. She moves alot!

@mellymar love the Nessie/real estate analogies. Shame we can't see/hear the sound effects and gesture that go with it - bet it's hilarious! (I have that Finding Nemo "whale speak" in my head.) Mine is also an identifiable migrating mass.

@amark11 good to hear that you're also a bit squishier. I was gonna ask if feeling hiccups around your butthole is weirdly pleasant but that would be taking it too far I guess hehe ;) I remember you also had a painful and tingly left rib as well! Mine has also gone as I think the baby now lies differently - I definitely appreciate it getting its foot outta there as that was not fun.

Definitely looks like I'm the only one who plays "bounce the baby in the sac". Sigh.

  • I can't do the bounce thing. But I don't want to try to hard because he'll just start beating the shit out of me....and then the braxton hicks will start... and i'll tell him it's time to go back to sleep, but he won't listen. So ya, maybe you have to push harder to make that work?
  • I haven't experienced being able to bounce the baby. However, I was stressed out because I'm new to an area with tornados and I think he sensed it so he pushed his back up and I was rubbing it when I would stop he'd get mad and bounce until I rubbed his back. Other than that I've felt legs and hiccups.

Sadly, it feels like the hemorrhoid-making process that it is. Fortunately, they aren't so horrible and tend to come and go.
Aaaaand, way over the TMI line, sorry ladies. Was hoping I wouldn't be the only one, but better for you that I am...

At least there's hope for the kid to shift away from the beloved left rib, yeesh
