Tuesday tyrant

Im so annoyed with my boss right now. I started maternity leave on Wednesday after having my LO, but I still have to go to meetings for work. It's so frustrating, and all I can think is what is the point of maternity leave! I had to have a d&c after delivery so I'm in off and on again pain. Luckily one meeting is only a half hour so I'm really hoping I can sit thru it.

  • Oh my. That is not okay. If you just had a baby 6 days ago and are on maternity leave he cannot expect you to come in. That may even be illegal. there has to be laws within the family leave act that he needs to be respecting.

  • If your using FMLA keep up with those days you go in. FMLA does not have to be used consecutively and it could possibly extend your maternity leave. Especially if they are expecting you to be at these meetings.
  • I loath people like your manager to no end, perhaps you could cut your maternity leave until you deliver? Since you can't relax anyway might as well save the days! And definitely check if he has the right to do that and don't stand for it if the law is on your side

    My work wouldn't let me come back without an "all clear to work" letter from my Obgyn 6 weeks after delivery.

    I'd stop at HR on your way to or from any future meetings To ask what documentation they need from your doc- and when they're aghast that you're there you should throw mr tyrant under the bus.
