Hi fellow moms! My situation is two-fold...
The first part is that I have a 10 week old that refuses to burp during/after a bottle. It's been this way for weeks. He fights and pushes away from your chest/shoulder when he's put up to burp. Others have suggested to sit him up to burp or put him across my legs, but all he does is fight that too. Pediatrician says to burp him every ounce, if possible, to avoid frequent spit ups. Anything we try he refuses and fusses (he's surprisingly strong for his age).
The second half of my issue is that he wants to be put down right after he finishes the bottle to stretch out and move his lower gas bubbles. He will fuss if we try to hold him upright for any time after (to avoid massive spit up). In the beginning it wasn't a problem because he wanted to be held all the time, and now he's becoming more active so he squirms and spits up several times once he's put down. We've tried a reclining high chair, propping him up in a boppy pillow, etc. but none of it helps.
I understand spit up is normal for a baby but he usually does it enough to require frequent clothing changes. It's frustrating.
Anyone out there have similar problems? How did you resolve your LO's refusal to burp? Suggestions on putting the baby down so they don't spit up a good portion of their bottle?
Thanks!
