Hi June moms, I'm actually an october mom, but I will be a bridesmaid in August (4months from now), when I'll be 31w3d.. So I came here just to ask you, would you feel up to being a bridesmaid this far along?
And how many sizes up should I go, the bride is worried that we won't be able to find the dress later on, so she insists we buy it ASAP, I think I should be able to fit a baby bump in it, but unfortunately I don't know which other parts are going to grow :sigh:
this is the dress, in another color, but same style..
what do you think?
Thanks in advance
Re: Bridesmaid at 31weeks?
I was going to say I did really well but everyone is different. Think you should go for it and if things have got difficult bride would surely understand if you no longer do it.
I wore a maternity version of the dress but I think you could just go one or two sizes up and get the dress adjusted nearer the time.
Dress was perfect with alterations to the bust.
Wedding and reception were just fine, danced until 10:30 with minor swelling.
For me, feeling great day of is one thing, but I need some time to recover. So I would recommend building in an extra day or two after the wedding to sleep, relax, and put your feet up. If I overdo it (which I do, because I feel good), it can take me up to 5 days to fully recover.
Have fun!
I would go up at least two sizes, probably three, just to be on the safe side with your growing body, and budget for alterations. I'm doing something similar for my post partum body/wedding post baby, just to avoid the added stress.
I added two cup sizes, from 36D to 40DD and probably would have gained even more weight if I had not had such severe morning sickness that kept the rest of my body a bit smaller.
I was a size 10 at 4 weeks, and now I'm a size 12-14 at 31.5 weeks with little weight gain, but due to belly and bust growing.
Assume that you'll gain a normal amount of weight during your pregnancy, about 35 pounds, and that your chest/ribcage will expand and overaccommodate with the dress size. If it's a tent by 30 weeks, you can have it taken in.
Enjoy the wedding! You're going to look adorable with a bump in that dress. Bride chose a great dress!
I'm 32 weeks, and I could bridesmaid a wedding I'm pretty sure. Honestly, if it was one of those REALLY long ceremonies, I might re-think it a little bit (to avoid standing there, fidgeting cause I have to PEE). But I think I'd be cool doing it. The ceremony itself should be fairly easy, show up, smile, and stand. The reception I would probably spend more time sitting than standing (my longstanding pregnancy complaint has been being tired), but as long as I had a chair to retire to when I needed, no big. As far as dancing and such, some days I could have the energy for that, others I would just sit and eat. However, PP mentioned the recovery time - do take this into consideration. When I work (I bartend, so I'm on my feet and moving around) I need a day after to recover my energy and my feet. Being super active will wear me out and I'm ready for bed early, and really tired still the day after and maybe even the day after that, too. Build in enough days afterwards to rest yourself. It's shocking to me how easily I tire, and for how long that lasts afterwards
As far as the dress - I don't wear dresses often. But, I can say that my boobs got way bigger than they were. I must have gone up at least 2 cups, and my around the ribs measurement went from the inner or middle hooks to the outer hooks. I don't know if that dress cut would work for me, my bump begins to slope pretty much right underneath my boobs. My thighs are thicker a smidge, too, but this dress looks loose in the thigh area, so you'd probably be ok there. Hard to know, but probably at least 2 sizes up, and then have it taken in.
Have fun! I'm sure you'll look fantastic, bump bridesmaid!
ETA - shoes. try to choose flat, stretchy, comfy ones. My feet swell after about an hour or two on my feet. Not that bad, but I could use an extra half size or full size for the room by the end of the night
