So we opted out of genetic testing as I am young and healthy, so no gender info there. I am 15 weeks and I have am appointment next week but it is with my new doctor whom I have yet to meet. I had to switch for insurance purposes. Unless he gives me am ultrasound next week I will have to wait 5 more weeks!

What do you think my chances of an ultrasound next week are? I have no idea what to expect. I have only had one at week 9.

A lot of times for insurance purposes, they won't let you have the ultrasound until 18-20 weeks unless you are high risk or otherwise indicated. My friend called and begged them to do it early, so she got hers today at 17.5 weeks.

I know how you feel, I'm dying to know. I was supposed to have my 16 week appt tomorrow and they had to reschedule for Thursday because my Dr. is sick. Even one extra day is killing me and all I'll probably find out is when they will let me schedule it!! There are ultrasound boutique you can pay to find out early. If I have to wait 4 weeks to find out, I'm definitely paying to go to an ultrasound boutique to find out!

We have over 4 weeks to go until our next ultrasound. A boutique near us does gender determination at 16 weeks for $70 (2d) or $135 (3d/4d). We have an appointment in a week!
My doc won't do the anatomy scan until at least 19 weeks and mine is scheduled for May 21st at 19w5d. Too far away.

My doctor has done an ultrasound at every appointment but stays away from the gender stuff:( I have an anatomy scan at 20 weeks but that's 4 weeks away and it's killing me!!

My doc wouldn't do an anatomy scan til 20 weeks. I said screw that, we went out in town. It was so work the $80 we spent!! We got the baby's heartbeat in a stuffed animal, tons of pictures, and best of all: we just got to see our baby for 20 minutes! We watched her wiggle and squirm and practice her stomping lol. I have a feeling I won't like that last part in a month or so.

My dr won't do it even a week before 20 weeks!
Since you're going to a new practice then maybe, but maybe not since you already had one elsewhere.

I'm 15w4d & haven't seen my baby once. I've only heard the heartbeat... once. I have an appointment next week for a check up but it'll only be a heartbeat confirmation. I don't see my baby until the 18th of May. luckily we see for the first time AND find out the gender all at once. anxious, but broke so I have to wait. lol.

It is very hit or miss if the doctor will do an in office ultrasound for you. From my experience and reading most doctors do not do an ultrasound this far into pregnancy. Also, usually the in-office machines are not as high tech as an actual diagnostic center and so it can be much harder to pick up small details such as gender on a less advanced machine. Also, I would advise on being careful if you try to beg to push up your anatomy scan. There is a reason they like to wait until the 18-20 week mark as if it is done too early the baby might not be fully developed the way they need them to be then you get odd results or have to go back. My BFF who is a few weeks ahead of me had her anatomy scan done at 17.5 and the couldn't get all the readings they needed...then the baby's stomach was measuring big and it totally freaked her out and she had to sit a nervous wreck for another two weeks waiting to go back for a follow up...only to discover everything was find and it was just a normal growth period and the rest of the body didn't catch up that early yet. So I highly recommend that if you have one of the "Ultrasound Boutiques" in your area to just pay the small fee to go there early. Plus with those ultrasounds they do make it about you and seeing the baby so its much more personal. :-)

Well maybe I will get one sooner. Just found out today that I might have been exposed to fifths disease. I work at a daycare. It will be confirmed tomorrow at work, the kid went to the doctors after school. If so I will have to call into this new doctor I've never met. Kinda freaking out also. .

My husband and I saw our little pumpkin at our first appointment at 8 weeks, but only because we miscarried our first, and our doctor is super sweet. We will be paying for an ultrasound at a boutique on May 1st so my mom can come!! I'm so excited to find out!!! We'll be 17 weeks so I'm hoping we get to, but it will still be nice to see how big our baby has gotten!!

I went in for my second appointment at 13 weeks and I was absolutely crushed to find out my doctor will not be doing another ultrasound until 21 weeks !!! My hubby took me to an ultrasound boutique and we found out the gender of our baby that same day ! I could even tell for myself that we were having a girl before the tech even told us because their technology is the best out there

it's well worth it ! and don't get your hopes up that your doctor will do one because I did and I almost cried lol

Same here! I thought I was going to get an ultrasound at 13 or 15 weeks... Nope. Have to wait for week 20-21..............

The good thing is I was already expecting this because my insurance only covers 2 US. But the impatience is kiiilllliiinnggg meee.
