no labor signs :(

I've been watching pregnancy updates on YouTube, every time I turn over a new week I watch everyone else's "36.. 37.. week pregnancy update"
Anyways.. it seems like most everyone starts getting some kind of contractions or at least Braxton hicks at this point or a lost mucous plug or some kind of clue that shoes baby is coming. I'm 37 +4 and its getting me worried cause I've got nothing.. and a closed cervix.

Re: no labor signs :(

  • I'm 38w3d and only thing I've had is lost mucus plug. No Braxton hicks or any kind of contractions. You aren't alone and no signs doesn't mean a thing!!

  • I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and have had few signs. I had Braxton hicks contractions for a couple of weeks. Or at least I THINK they were BH. I am a FTM and feel a bit stupid that I'm not even sure if they were really BH. But even those went away.

The only thing I have now is a baby who is head down and enjoys head butting me "down there".
  • FTM here, 38w4d just saw doc an hour ago and I am in the same boat...no contractions except a few BH last night, not dialated, still havent dropped and baby is measuring over 40w. Doc said some women, especially first timers, can go into labor with a closed cervix so its nothing to be worried about. Im starting to have dreams that Im going to be pregnant FOREVER!

That's a good thing! Having your baby early presents all kinds of risks, and even if you don't go early, having signs early isn't all it's cracked up to be (coming from someone who is having prodromal labor and still probably won't deliver for a few weeks). Some women have signs for several weeks, others have no signs up until the day they deliver. The range of "normal" is huge and there's no reason to believe you won't go into labor on your own. Also, when there are no medical interventions, first time moms deliver at 41w1d on average. So no worries! Just relax and let your body work its magic when the time is right! :)

Agreed! I keep seeing posts about people worrying about having no signs of labor yet. 37 weeks means you still have 3 weeks to go! I'm actually happy I'm not having any signs of labor yet because it would stress me out anyway.

Yeah at first when I would have really bad contractions I'd get worried because I thought I was going to go early and I don't want that at all. Now I'm almost used to the prodromal labor and am worried it might take me longer to realize when I'm in real labor! Ha!
