Working out and nutrition

What are you ladies doing for your workouts? I bought a pregnancy trainer from Jessie Hilgenberg that is AMAZING! Though I still lift 6 days a week... I can't seem to get away from it! Lol. I love it too much. What is everyone else doing for working out and eating?!

Re: Working out and nutrition

  • That is something I very much struggle with. I am scared I will gain too much weight. And I am already super bloated and am getting married in 68 days. I typically eat very clean, workout six days a week lifting and kickboxing. But this trimester is really kicking my butt. I would love to see what kind of feed back you get.

  • I am sticking with my running routine, although I'm going at a slower pace. That, plus some strength training and LOTS of stretching make up my workouts. I want to get into yoga too!

As far as nutrition, I have a protein shake in the morning, and try to keep my snacks to fruits and veggies. Then my other meals are whatever I can make that is super nutrient dense. Soups with bone broth, lots of veggies, chicken, beef.

Right now I'm not sick at all, so I'm trying to eat as well as possible and stay away from crazy sweets and cravings. If I do get sick- I am definitely going to be lenient on myself. :) just trying to stay healthy while I can easily.

I'm only seven Weeks but I'm still doing hiit cardio training and my doc was super supportive about it. There have been a day or two where I slowed it down because I was feeling a little light headed but aside from that it makes me feel so good. Working out is a huge mood booster for me. I'm sure once I hit the second trimester I'll stop with the hiit but continue spinning ( there's atleast 5-6 pregnant women ... Like nine months pregnant in my classes already)
  • @audimariie I hope you don't mind me asking, but that trainer - is it the one that cost $100? I looked into it but wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that. If it's good though I might make the purchase! I followed Jamie Eason's LiveFit trainer before all this
  • I'm sticking to my running routine. I have several races I've already registered for including a marathon in October and I plan on finishing it even if I have to jog/walk
  • I strength train 3 days a week and take a BodyFlow class. Try to fit at least 2 or cardio sessions in there too. This is baby #3 and I worked out up until delivery with the last two. It gets tougher the bigger you get but just MOVING around even at 8 months changed my mood completely. Keep it up ladies!

  • I do strength training and hiit/bootcamp classes. I'll continue to do them and modify if I need to.
  • I am doing 40 minutes on the elliptical every day and mixing in some yoga. I also signed up for a prenatal yoga class at my hospital - I figured it was a good way to meet some local moms.

  • I am discouraged in this area. I got a stomach virus at 5 weeks and since then the morning sickness set in and being tired all the time. I am just not up to my normal work out routine. :( I am trying to go walking as much as I can. Hope second trimester is much easier. 4 weeks to go!
  • I do a strength training bootcamp three times per week. I'm lowering weights and upping reps at those (I usually lift pretty hard) and adding in some cardio to hopefully combat the extra calories I feel like I'm eating now!
  • Anyone know about the safety of protein shakes? I keep finding conflicting information! Some sites say no problem and other say no way....
  • I'm still lifting a couple times a week, doing home workout videos (30 day shred, etc), and a 60 min step class (I lowered the step).  I'll keep going until I can't!

  • Before all the constant nausea, bloating, and exhaustion hit me a few weeks ago, I was doing Bikram yoga, cardio barre and running. But, I'm lucky if I manage a "good day" where I can do Bikram or cardio. I've started walking during my lunch break and I've noticed the fresh air helps too. I as well, am fearful of gaining too much weight as I've already noticed a big difference in my body since the bloating hit. Incorporating yoga dvds at home that are low-impact and continuing to walk until my stomach can handle a more aggressive workout.
  • So I know that exercise is good for pregnant women, but I've been more or less a couch potato for almost a year now, and I don't know what's okay and not okay to pick up and start doing now. Everything I've come across says something along the lines of "you can continue with your workouts as normal with some slight changes and exceptions" but I haven't seen any suggestions for those of us who didn't work out before we got pregnant!

I don't have my first appointment until May 14, and I don't want to wait that long to get into a routine. Anyone know what some good exercises are that are totally safe to pick up now for lazy girls like me?

  • Before falling pregnant I was working out 6x days a week- weight lifting 2xper week (split sessions), outdoor cycling 3x per week and yoga 1x per week. Now I'm hit with all day nausea, I'm finding it difficult to keep this up- it's more like 3x per week. Still weight lifting but not as heavy, and shortened my bike rides to 12km. I'm REALLY hoping the nausea goes away in the second trimester- it's killing me!!!
