October 2015 Moms

lesson learned. you'll thank me.

I am a lobster! It was only 70 out today. We went to the park and for a walk and i am fried like I sat on a beach all day. It's so awful. None of my other friends or the kids are, just me and my pregnancy hormones... I never had a summer pregnancy, so I am thankful I learned now and not in 100 degree weather. 3 letters. SPF.

Thank you for the heads up!! I was wondering how easily I would get burnt this summer.. I have been outside for not very long on high 60degree days and it seems like my face get's red super easy..

  • I went to a baseball game Sunday and had little time with our seats in the sun, but still managed to get a nice little burn. :\">

  • I was wondering if that's what was going on... my chest got a little pink yesterday and then was not this am. I usually don't burn so I was thinking I was getting heat rash... I'll put on some sunscreen just in case!
  • Oh man that stinks!  I will definitely wear my SPF going forward!

  • Thank you! I am sure it is only a matter of time before this happens to me. Does anyone know if there are things we need to look for/avoid in sunscreen?
  • I have heard that happens... We were in Orlando over spring break and I did burn a little more than normal (which would have been not at all)... so I keep SPF 50 on me if I'm going to be out now...
  • Omg I've just experienced this! I got in the shower this morning and my chest is burnt. All I did was take the dog for her regular 1 hr or so romp on the beach. I know I'm fair skinned but come on!
  • @jstmbgh I asked my Dr. this at my last appointment (I live in FL) and she said nothing to worry about just wear it :-)

She did mention that do not sunbathe close to your due date as she has seen some women in labor in so much excruciating pain due to a severe sunburn!
  • I'm black and I was sunburned before....just NOT a white thing!!! I felt that way until I was sun burnt. Thank you for the reminder/advice.
  • Sunscreen is safe and definitely safer than burning!
  • I made DH buy a patio umbrella because I got a little burnt on the first really nice day. Fast forward to last week, and I have a nice sunburn from a day baseball game. My foundation has SPF 15 so only my arms and shoulders got burnt. Looks dumb!

I never burned easily before. My mom is Latina and I've always tanned well. I feel like I'm turning into my extremely fair skinned Irish hubby!
  • With my second (May baby) I put spray sunscreen on and missed a few spots on my legs...my water broke the next day and I had goofy red legs from where it burned. I had to mention that I missed some spots on my legs so they didn't think it was something else, lol.

  • Any gals love their face sunscreen or SPF moisturizer? I used to use a Neutrogena facial sunscreen ...used it yesterday and holy breakout today! My skin has been otherwise pretty tame since getting pregnant. Help!
  • I have had two mild sunburns this pregnancy. Normally i don't burn at all. I've been using coconut oil ever since and no burn. It needs to be reapplied more frequently but it's helping a bunch. I love the sunbut can't deal with any type of burn.
