Anyone else take Ambien to sleep?

As soon as I found out I was pregnant I immediately stopped taking 99% of my medications.  I have terrible insomnia and I work night shift 4 days a week (the insomnia came before the night shift).  After seeing my OB last week she said she was fine with me taking it when I needed to (ie the days that I works night) since that is usually the hardest of times to sleep.  Can't help but feel a little guilty when I take it even tho I took it off and on with my first LO and was given it in the hospital when admitted for preterm labor.  But guilt aside this mama needs to sleep!

    I take it every night. For me it outweighs the risks. I have fibromyalgia and otherwise I get about 2-3 hours of restless sleep. If I don't sleep I'm in huge amounts of pain and can't function. My doctor says it's fine and I've heard of many people taking it during pregnancy. Of course I would love to avoid all medications but sleep is important and I trust my doctor.

    I took Ambien while pregnant as well. I had such bad insomnia!

    My ob gave me a prescription that I take as needed. I think the benefits definitely outweigh the risks. Also it seems pretty commonly prescribed during pregnancy, which eased my mind a lot.

    I don't take it but as a neonatologist, I see it on new mom's med lists all the time and there are no concerns I have for the baby. If your OB is ok then I wouldn't worry about it.

    I was on it but I stopped cold turkey when I got pregnant. I have awful insomnia. My OB said to give unisom a shot and if it doesn't work I ca go back on ambien. She said its totally safe. I am thinking I will be going back on it. I miss my ambien!

    I too love me some ambien as I have a horrible time sleeping.  I think though that it was recently downgraded from a class B dug to a class C drug (less safe). https://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/zolpidem.html
