Vitamin d drop trouble

is anyone else giving their child the enfamil vitamin d drops and if so are they making your baby even more fussy and spit up more? I don't know what to do the dr says he needs these but it seems to be really hard on his tummy..

Re: Vitamin d drop trouble

  • I have the same problem. She basically chokes and gags when I give them to her and then spits up afterwards. I plan to discuss this with the doctor tomorrow. It's so painful for me to put her through it!

  • I haven't commented on here in forever and I haven't had my baby yet, but my sister in law told me not to do vitamin d drops! Her baby got really sick and overdosed on them so they put him in front of a window for 10 minutes a day instead and he did much better.
  • I'm a lurker, but wanted to chime in. My pediatrician says it's okay not to do the drops as long as I take enough vitamin D (we are EBF). I was taking vitamin D3 before I got pregnant anyway so we just doubled my dose after I gave birth. I now take 4000 IUs a day. You could check with your doctor and see if that's an option. He also suggested standing by a window while feeding so she could soak up some rays!
  • At my breastfeeding class they suggested using the concentrated drops - you only need 1 drop a day, and just put it on your nipple and baby'll just suck it off when they latch.
  • My daughters doctor said no need to use them until shes a month old.
  • I was told one drop a day in your nipple and when they latch they will get it and it week be mixed with your milk so it shouldn't bother them
  • Thank you guys!
