Re: Please help!!

  • Apparently cabbage leaves help but yeah welcome to breastfeeding. Your milk has come in. Good times

  • I'm not breastfeeding though, cabbage leaves really? Never heard of that one.. Thanks
  • Anything I can do to help when I go for a pee I had stiches and it burns like hell!! How long does the stingy feeling stay for ?
  • Your milk can still come in even if you aren't trying to breastfeed... And for the other issue...Dermaplast it's in the first aid section of your pharmacy. It's used for cuts and burns and is an aerosol can. That is gods gift for going pee after giving birth. You just spray it up on your junk and it numbs you. Use it after you pee and as needed after that. I wouldn't have made it without that stuff!!! Btw my other daughters bday is the fifteenth!
  • If you aren't breastfeeding your supply will go down quickly and give you relief soon. As far as stitches go everyone is different. I didn't feel back to normal for 2 months but Google some different remedies. Ie frozen maxi pads and my Drs told me to keep with a Tylenol Advil rotation. Good luck with this stuff. Haven't given birth yet but looking forward to all this postpartum fun :p

I second the pads with witch hazel and water in the freezer thing, as well as the dermoplast last thing. My stitches hurt terribly bc I had a third degree epi the first time and a second degree last time. I'd also say to keep using the peri bottle when you pee (spray it gently on your junk while you're peeing to alleviate burning). The more sits baths I took, the better I felt also, so I'd suggest using that donut they gave you at the hospital and soaking as many times a day as you can in warm, Epsom salt water (with lots and lots of Epsom salt!).
  • Agreed! My bathroom routine involves squirting a bottle of warm water to clean off, patting dry, then Dermaplast. Also I try to take at least one warm bath a day, and I'm taking midol or Tylenol for the pain. Hang in there!
  • For the boobs, you can rent a pump through your nearest medical supply (or from the hospital). Unless you're on medication that prevents it, you can bottle feed your pumped milk to the baby. The lactation consultants I work with say that your supply will dry up if you don't pump regularly (every 2 to 3 hours).
I second the advice of the previous posters about the burning.
  • Freeze cabbage leaves and put them in a fitted sports bra and drink lots of peppermint tea... My milk dried up fairly fast with my first that way and the cold cabbage really eases the pain
  • Wow thank you so much im defiantly gonna try the salt in the bath because I'm having a bath 2 a day at the moment to keep my junk clean after havin the stiches, and that dermoplat spray sounds good I'll give that a try also as I'm using which hazel on pads atm and it's just not working
  • I've been through the same thing, there are several solutions that can work for easing the breastfeeding/nipples pain, I believe this website will help you a lot:

Hospital didn't recommend a little squirt bottle for you? I was given a little squeeze bottle and you squeeze water on yourself while your peeing it relieves the pain!

Just a heads up my nurse recommend only a tablespoon of Epsom salts as too much can lead to your stitches desolving prematurely, if you've done in the past and are fine that's great just wanted to share what j was informed of!

I definitely didn't know or do that. My mom sells organic bath salts though, so for the most part, I used unscented, uncolored pink Himalayan salt. I found it worked better.
  • Try sitting on a heating pad, helps with the pain :).
  • Also, for the ' lady bits' area in addition to what folk already suggested, if you have an adjustible shower head, using it to gently spray and clean your tender area works as well....I wasn't Able to use my sits bath as I was too short and it put pressure on my stitches so my midwife suggested the shower thing it also washes the ucky away so you don't sit in it like you would in a bath:-) just make sure to set the water pressure on gentle.
