May 2015 Moms

37 weeks and nothing . . .

I keep reading about all you mamas getting all these changes that sound like early labour and I am feeling absolutely 0% different. My biggest fear is going late again and needing to be induced. I want to have a midwife assisted, birth centre birth - not be tied to the bed and monitored constantly.
Is anyone else not feeling anything yet? Any STMs not feel anything until late and deliver on time?

Re: 37 weeks and nothing . . .

  • I'm 35 1/2 weeks and I very rarely get BH and there have been no signs of anything happening. I won't be getting any internal exams because I'm a mandatory c-section so I'm kinda bummed I'll never know if I'm progressing.

Once you're full term, why not start trying all the tricks to induce labor naturally? Good luck!! I hope your LO arrives on time so you don't have to be induced.

The best way to have a birth center birth is to be patient and not try to induce for now. 37 weeks is still three weeks from your due date and most women go overdue. So most women aren't showing signs yet. When did you have your last baby?
  • It's been almost 11 years since my last one so I know I'll likely be more like a FTM physically. My midwives say that since I laboured well after induction with the first that there's a very good chance I will go on my own with this one. I'm just waiting impatiently for ANY sign that something is happening.
  • I had my son at 38w3d. Up until 24 hours before I went into labor I didn't have ANY signs that he was coming. I was sure that I was going to go all the way until my due date or late! I was so pleasantly surprised when he made his early debut. I really didn't have anything happen before that. The only thing was at my 37 week appointment I wasn't dilated, but my cervix was "thin and ripe" and he was very low.

  • I haven't had any signs of labor yet either and I am 38 weeks tomorrow. It makes me think she's happy in there and I won't be going early but it's a total guessing game!
  • Yep no signs of anything for me either. With my first I had zero signs until the day I went into labour! No Braxton hicks or losss of plug or anything so yea. I feel lucky in that regard because having contractions for no reason doesn't seem fun lol. It will happen when it happens!

  • I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one sitting and baking quietly. If I didn't already have one crazy, active kid I would assume that a chill pregnancy would mean a chill kid. It does not!
  • STM nearly a week behind you, no signs of labor yet either. First was similar to yours...had an induction scheduled at 42 weeks but I went into labor the night before and had him on the induction date. Maybe we're just the kind of woman that keeps her baby in for as long as possible. I did go from 0 to baby-having in a matter of hours so that may happen to you :)
  • 37w4d and zero signs of any thing happening. You are not alone!
  • 38w 2d, not one sign that labor is near! I will get an induction at 40w because of GD although my doctor did not schedule it yet. Otherwise I would probably be one of those ladies who deliver at 42 weeks.
  • 36w 3d, and I don't have anything either (not that I would want to yet). I am very curious when this little one will arrive though - so excited!
  • I'm in the same boat as you, 37 weeks and I feel about the same as I did every other week except bigger... We still have a few weeks to go though, so I figure things will start happening when baby is done cooking, and I don't mind not having any BH, or mucus, or spotting in the meantime :) just trying to waddle around with my huge belly and swollen feet/cankles is interesting enough without worrying about labor signs...
  • I'm 37 weeks too and nothing at all, hopefully soooon!!!! Good luck!
  • I'll be 38 weeks on Wednesday and haven't felt anything. I actually just said to my husband yesterday that I often forget I'm pregnant until I have to make food choices lol. Ready to meet this little man though
  • It's ok 37 weeks isn't too late, just start walking at least 30 mins a day, try to walk on the beach if you can, start drinking stuff like cinnamon tea once a day and eat 7 dates a day if you can find any, these things soften up the cervix so if you're still induced they can help ease labour , good luck and i hope you don't need induction!
  • I didn't start feeling BH until 37 weeks and that was only at work, where I was super stressed. I'm 38 weeks now and on maternity leave (DR took me out due to high BP/stress at work) and have had BH, but not nearly as bad as I was last week.
  • I wish I was feeling nothing:) I am 36 weeks and 6 days and have been having regular (5 min apart) contractions since Monday but am only 1cm. My contractions have started hurting and I am really so over this.

  • With my first I was 38 weeks and completely closed and no contractions. But I went into early labor at 39weeks and 2days and had my baby at 39weeks and 3days!
  • 37 weeks 4 days and no signs yet besides people saying baby seems a little low. My dr said they don't do internal checks anymore due to risk of infection so I'm a little bummed I don't get to know how far along I am in that sense. It would be fun to know I think.
  • I'm 38 weeks with no indications of labor or any bodily changes except an increase in discharge... although it hasn't changed in appearance from earlier weeks, just the amount. And my midwife says the baby is head down and very low, but she has still been pretty active so I think she likes it in there! It's very frustrating, feels like there's no end in sight!
