BH/False Labor Question--Do you experience this?

I've been having regular contractions at night (random ones or activity-induced ones during the day with no real pattern). They come and stay at night for several minutes and are relatively painful. They are usually between 5 and 7 minutes apart and last between 1.5 and 3.5 minutes. They do this for anywhere from 1 to 3 or 4 hours. Anybody else experience this? I keep waiting for them to get too strong or last longer or for another sign of labor progressing before I run off to the hospital, so I haven't gotten checked for it. Is this something you've experienced too?

[With my second, I didn't have this. With my first, I started to, but bc I didn't know what to expect, I went to the hospital and they ended up watching me and giving me pitocin to start the process. I can't help but wonder if I would have had her farther along if I didn't go, since they had to give me pitocin when I experienced something similar to now. Just wanted your thoughts and experiences.]

  • Call your doctor. They will let you know to come in or not.

  • I ended up calling. I just couldn't figure out how to delete the post afterwards. He said it sounds like BH, but that it's what leads up to labor. He asked about discharges or fluids and since I hadn't had any, he said it would be fine to take Tylenol if it got too bad and just wait until it was the real deal. I was just concerned about the contractions lasting too long. He also said to not lay on my back at all.
  • Hmm I've had this going on for over 10 weeks now and my doctor isn't worried about it. It's just Braxton hicks. It's a pain but doctor said I will know when I'm really in labor.
  • I've been having BH for the last week. I usually get them when I'm up, walking around, at the store.....being active, which is why my DR took me out of work a week early because I didn't want to go into labor in front of 93 12 and 13 year old kids.
