My baby seems a little behind :(

My beautiful daughter is 6 months old and seems a little behind :/ she hasn't tried rolling from her back to her tummy, she still hates tummy time and just puts her head down every time we try, and also doesn't sit up in a boppy pillow. She just falls over after 5 seconds. Should I be worried?? Is there anything I can do??

  • What did her pedi say? Have you had her 6 mo checkup yet? If her pedi isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either. A coworker of mine had a baby who was the same way (didn't want to rollover or sit up) but their DS is healthy (per pedi). They will do things exactly when they're ready and no sooner.

  • Maybe try tummy time with baby on your chest while you lay down on the floor or couch... She will have to hold her head up to look at your face

Don't worry! Does your baby girl make a lot of different sounds and noises? My daughter is about the same age and she just started sitting up and rolling everywhere recently, but she's been babbling and making a ton of sounds for a long time. One thing I read is that some babies favor verbal development and others favor physical development. It's tough for them to conquer both at once, so it kind of goes back to the baby's personality and what's most important to them internally.
  • She is actually very verbal! A lot more verbal than my first was at this age. That does make me feel a lot better then! Just for an update, she has started sitting up
