Back to work... And bedtimes

Can someone tell me why 6 weeks went so fast?!? I am completely devastated. Thankfully as a teacher I only work 7 more weeks until I'm off for the summer but it kills me. But my question is my DD is now transitioned to crib at night (which was my goal before returning to work Monday) and she is doing well but the bedtime is still difficult. We have a routine that starts at 7:30 since she has been showing signs of sleepiness at 8:45/9:00. We bathe, read, take our last bottle and rock until she is pretty close to sleep and transfer her. We turn the sound soother on and give her the Pacifier (sometimes not all nights she will take it). After five minutes...she begins crying out a lot... She has been stopping to fall asleep at 11:00. This seems so so late... And maybe it's because I'm going back to work and was hoping she'd go to be earlier. Any suggestions on ways to move it up or is it too soon and let her naturally get used to it??

  • no experience yet mine is only couple weeks but moving the routine up a little each day seems like the norm. I hope mine can establish a routine when I go back at six weeks although since I work nights and ebf nothing I can think of well help me get more rest unless I get a stockpile and switch to pumping exclusively on days I work

  • I'm also going back to work on Monday... six weeks of ML is no bueno. :(
Our routine is very similar. I have had more issues with her drifting off when I offer her a paci at bed time. I know it's recommended to do so, but if it falls out, she cries and it wakes her back up. I am going to try to only do pacis if it's not bed time and see if that helps. I also get up slowly to put her in the crib and transition from the position I hold her in while rocking to the position I need her to be in when I place her in the crib (my hand under her head to lower her down, etc.). These things don't work every time, but they work more often than not... good luck at work!
