pre term labor

I just wanted to share my story. I'm 32 1/2 weeks pregnant with forth daughter and starting having contractions just about 10 minutes apart for an hour. So I called my doctors office they sent me to the birth center at the hospital to get checked out. I figured the contractions would stop by the time I got there. Nope about an hour after I got there the contractions started a five minute pattern, and dilated to a 1. So I had to take 3 doses every 20 minutes of this medication to stop the contractions and get a steroid shot to mature babies lungs if I did/do deliver early(it hurts, not going to sugar coat that) finally contractions did stop and I got send home. I'm very relieved the contractions stopped but now I have to slow down and take it easy. when your a stay at home mom getting three girls ready for school, taking care of my 10 mth old foster son, keeping a house clean and feeding the family. it's hard to slow down and rely on other people to help. I'm not complaining about what I do. I love being a sahm. But don't ever be afraid to ask for help or if someone is offering to help let them. I haven't asked for help and wouldn't have if this didn't happen early. Pregnant women and mommas health is just as important as anyone else's. Listen to your body, if your in pain take a break. Be safe fellow Bumpies and take care of yourself.

Re: pre term labor

  • I am so happy they were able to stop your contractions. I am also a stay at home mom, but just to one toddler. At the end of the day I am exhausted, so I don't know how you do it! I also have had a lot of pain, mainly in my old c section scar. My doctor told me that's my sign to slow down! When I get that pain it's time to rest. Try to take it easy!!

  • Hope all goes well for you and you little one☺
  • Thank you for sharing your story! I'm glad you listened to your body and got everything slowed down! I hope you get to too!
  • This same thing happen to me. But I'm a mother to a seven year old, in my senior year in college, and work two jobs. My body definitely let me know if needed to slow down. I'm now on modified bed rest and loving it.
  • Thank you all for your comments and well wishes. This modified bed rest that I'm on is hard but it's a must. My hopes are to at least make it to 36 weeks. Will keep updates posted on this forum.
  • Hopefully you can get some rest and keep that baby in. Best of luck!
  • Thanks for sharing your story! Good advice. And I will be praying for you and your LO!
  • Best of luck to you and your little miracle. Lots of hugs☺

I'm in similar situation right now. 33.weeks and 5 days today. Admitted to labor and delivery Thursday eveving with contraction 5-10 min apart that quickened to 2 min apart and dilated to 3 1/2 cm.i had both steroid injections for baby's lungs and trying to be weaned off mag sulfate to go home today. My first baby was born at 32 weeks so I feel this is repeat pregnancy except was taking progesterone shots this time in hopes of avoiding this scenario. Best of luck to all the lady's dealing with this stressful and scary time
