Baby swings

Any STM have any advice on baby swings?? We're looking at the mamaroo but want to make sure it's worth the money and that there aren't any better options. Thank you!

Re: Baby swings

  • Hi this is our forth baby, I haven't had a mamaroo but I would recommend a swing of some sort.
We had a normal bouncer with our first - this was ok.
Then we had a vibrating bouncy chair with our second - again ok, but annoyed our son a little.
With our third we had a bright starts musical swing - this in my opinion was amazing,
We sold it as we thought our family was complete, then we discovered we were pregnant with this little surprise, I knew straight away I had to buy another one.
I hope this helps a little bit even though I haven't had a mamaroo.

I feel like the mamaroo is a pretty excessive piece to have. You never know if baby will even like it so spending that amount of money would be wasteful to me. I'm not a flashy person and like bargains lol baby also isn't going to know the difference between a $200 mamaroo and a $50 swing. Just my two cents ;)

I had a swing with both my kids and they both loved it. This time around I'm getting the fisher price smart connect 4 in 1 cradle swing. The seat is removable and swivels so it can either rock back and forth or side to side either on or off the rocker arm. I love that It can come off of the rocker arm so I can bring baby girl anywhere in the house with me if she falls asleep.

  • I had a swing for my first son and he loved it, this time around I am expecting twins and 2 swings would just take up too much room. The mamaroo is much smaller and luckily my brother in law bought us 2 as gifts. I'm hoping the babies love them as much as I do!
  • A friend of mine today was just telling me how much her kids HATED the mamaroo. She really regretted spending the money she did on it when both her babies preferred a simple swing.

We were given a swing as a gift and also borrowed a bouncer from my sister. We will see which one LO prefers :)

I know alot of people who bought the momaroo that we're really disappointed with it and it's slow movements. Their babies hated it and they ended up buying other swings.

I personally love Fisher prices, snug a bunny, snag a monkey, snug a lamb swings, they have 3 adjustable positions the baby can rock side to side, swing diagonally or swing back and forth. It has many different speed settings that babies love! I highly recommend these and they are less expensive than momaroo's!
