2nd Trimester

persistant BV

At my first prenatal appointment last month, the doctor noticed a bacterial infection down stairs. I followed his original prescription of inserting a cream every night for three nights. A few days later the infection came back. I used the last of the prescription and again the infection has come back.

I've read that BV can cause complications, and I don't want to endanger the baby. But I can't seem to get rid of the infection for long. I never had this problem prepregnancy.

Has anyone else experienced this? What all did you have to do to keep it at bay until the baby is born. I'm 17 W btw

  • A probiotic helped me.

When I had it my doc prescribed a pill, not a cream. Maybe try that instead?
  • Until I had a LEEP procedure last year I had persistent BV problems. Other than antibiotics I found the best thing to do was to switch laundry detergent to a mild/hypo-allergenic one. I also stopped using soap/shower gel to wash and now I only use water. Cutting down on sugar and using probiotics also helped.
  • Awesome, thank you for all the advice. I have a Dr. Appointment on the 27th, I'll ask him about the pills. I'll also try changing my detergent
