Next appointment- flipping baby

I will be 36 weeks and 5 days at my appointment on Tuesday. At my last appointment baby was still breeched. If baby is still breeched my ob is going to try and flip him/her. My husband doesn't want to take time off of work (it is their busy season) if he doesn't have to. He thinks he will drive over if need be, but that is not going to work because my appointment is at 10:45 and if baby needs to be flipped it will be done at noon, we live forty miles from the clinic/hospital. Does he need to be there? I want him there for moral support and in case something happens and I end up in labor. And will I be able to drive home afterwards if they do end up flipping the baby?

  • I don't think your husband necessarily needs to be there, but there is the (small) possibility that you will need to deliver the baby that day so he should be ready to leave if he needs to.  However, if you're nervous about it, he should go to help comfort you. He'd likely regret not being there if something happens more than regret the time away from work if nothing happens.

My doctor said the procedure doesn't take that long, but they keep you for monitoring afterwards so the whole thing could take a couple of hours. You'll be able to drive home afterwards.
