Baby shower..party?!?? Help!

so my friends were talking about throwing me a baby shower when I get further along.. Well they want to do more of a party.. With alcohol and penis everywhere is it's a boy and vaginas everywhere if it's a girl.. Now idk about anyone else but I don't like the idea of this at all! And when I told them this they got offended and said they would just make it a surprise one so I'd have no choice because I wasn't going to do a "Hen/old maid" (a shower with only females) one... Any ideas how to refuse them again without offending them or avoiding this party like shower all together??

    There's nothing wrong with alcohol at a shower. I always do sangria or mimosas or mojitos. But the other stuff...wow. I would decline.

    Just say no, do you have a mother/sister that may throw one? My first pregnancy I thanked people for the thought but told them I only wanted one shower. They can be very exhausting.

    Ok wow. I don't mind cocktails/wine but penises and vaginas? Trust me I'm not prude but that's just bizarre to me for a baby shower. I think they should respect your opinion since this is thrown in your honor. Can you talk to your friends 1:1 about this so they don't get herd mentality?

    Put your foot down, I would be extremely pissed off if my "friends" did something like that. If they don't respect your wishes, they aren't great friends.

    I "fired" my made of honor because she wouldn't respect my wishes for my bridal shower. It was really hard and I wasn't an emotional wreck then. Hopefully a friend with more tasteful ideas will step up. Don't be afraid of refusing, remember one day you will want to show your child pictures from your shower.

    I'm all for a good time, I myself would love a co-ed baby shower since my partner and I share mutual childhood friends. Definitely don't want a traditional baby shower, I want people to have a good time and enjoy it but idk about these penises and vaginas, I'd save that for a bachelorette party.

    Tacky and rude! Like others said, this is a baby shower, not a bachelor/ette party. You might need to politely decline their offer and let a family member plan one. Alcohol is one thing. But you can't keep penises or vaginas in a baby book. That's just awkward.

    I definitely agree with all you ladies and I have told them no many times and said I don't want anything like that. It's definitely way too bachelorette for me too and I made that statement to them as well. I'm military so my family lives in another state so I doubt anyone would be able to come throw me one. I will try to be more forceful about the declination. Thank yall for the advice!

    Can't you just tell them that you're not finding out if it's a boy or a girl? Or do you think that then they would just decorate with both penises and vaginas?

    Tell them you would prefer mocktails. And that the genitalia is inappropriate. That you feel like it would definitely limit who would be able to come, and this is for a baby and that's a little preverted...

    It's too bad that they can't respect your wishes and plan a classy shower. You shouldn't have to miss out on a shower completely just because your friends are being unfair. I hope they see reason and plan something nice for you. You and your baby deserve a celebration of life! Not a glorification of sex organs.
