back labor

Can you have back labor that doesnt ease up? Im having a constant lower back pain that just doesnt leave. Ive tried heat and moving positions and nothing helps. Sometimes it gets sharper than other times and i also have sharp lower stomach pains, which my doctor says are irregular contractions. Im not sure if this is back labor, im already almost 4cm dilated and between 70-80% effaced and the doctor says the baby is maybe even lower than station -2 now. Any opinions on if this could be back labor?

    I have chronic back pain and have had two OP babies which meant back labor. On the one hand, my back pain never leaves me. On the other, contractions felt in the back do ebb and flow as the uterine muscles tighten and relax. So, my guess is that constant pain isn't contractions.
