Rant.....

Ok i keep being told that it is impossible for me to feel my baby move as i am a first time mom and I'm 14 weeks exactly today. First of all you don't know my body, second of all I'm pretty sure i know the difference from gas! Granted if the person is too early i get that but you can't tell me that I'm not able to feel my baby yet and that its impossible to feel it happen until 18 weeks. I wish people would shut the hell up about it!!!! sorry ladies but I'm just sick of all of the negativity!

  • Everyone's pregnancy experience is different, and we all need to keep in mind that just because you're not feeling a certain symptom or having a certain fear, doesn't mean it's crazy or impossible for someone else to be experiencing it.  I agree, let's support each other and acknowledge that carrying a baby of your own doesn't give you a medical degree in how all pregnancies are, for everyone.
  • My dr asked me at 12 if I could feel it. And said that since some women do know their bodies, that even if it's a first baby (me too) that you will know if it's not gas and baby movement. Keep feeling and enjoying the flutters and movement!!! >:D<
  • My best friend who is 5wks ahead of me and a FTM as well felt flutters at 13wks. I've felt some movement a couple of times - first was about 14 weeks. The way my baby was bouncing around at my NT scan at 12wks, I'm not surprised some women can feel movement earlier than expected. Everyone is different; if you're in tune with your body, you surely know it's not gas!

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • My dr says you can normally start feeling it at 14 weeks! I'm sure everyone is different and some lay feel it sooner or later than that. Why does everyone think it's a specific week?!!! Like oh you're 14 weeks and 6 days so you can't feel it for one more day. That's crazy!
  • I am a few days shy of 12weeks....3rd baby. Im positive I felt flutters for the first time yesterday. I was sitting real still on my laptop, in the same position for a while. It was real brief, but I for sure know what a flutter vs. gas feels like. JMO....

  • I am a FTM too, 13w tomorrow, and haven't felt anything except pinching and stretching down there. For those who've felt them, what does it feel like? Obviously they're described as "flutters" but is that what you've experienced? And, what kind of flutters? Like butterflies?
  • @BBairres I have felt something like flutters a few times but that was back in the beginning of week 12 lately when i feel movement it has been almost like a rolling type of sensation (once or twice) but most times it almost feels like a cricket. Like if you caught a cricket in your hands and cupped him in there but in the pelvic area of course.

This is what I've been saying i notice there are so many people that say it isn't possible when i have seen some pics of women who are the same stage as me and look like they are 7 months pregnant while others are barely showing. I ave seen very firm bumps and bumps you can tell are from baby but not as firm yet. I spent 6 months studying my body and getting to know the ins and outs before we even tried and another 6 months trying before we got pregnant. sure had i not been as in tune with my body maybe i wouldn't feel it but I'm 24 I'm pretty sure i know when i have to fart opposed to baby moving. I'm just glad I'm not the only person that feels like there are too many people that say things are absolutely impossible just because a book or google says. even doctors. Literature and information are as flawed and different as the people writing them. just like the discussion of when the second trimester really begins. and for the love of god google is probably the least reliable information source ever. My boyfriend could write and article all about pregnancy with no truth to it and as long as it sounded and was structured professionally there would be tons of people that believed it.
  • Ugh, totally agree. Its why I havent been saying much on the topic to be honest. I just dont want to deal with people saying "Oh its just gas you felt.". Seriously, I know what gas feels like, same way I can differentiate between stretching cramps and gas/poo cramps. Its just not the same at all. It doesnt feel the same, it doesnt seem the same, its not even in the same bodypart. I know I've felt my baby a few times, call me crazy if you must, but I know I have.

  • At 14 weeks it's totally possible :) don't let the negative ones get you down
