Umbilical Hernia Repair During RCS

Anyone have this done? My doctor said that it could be an option, and we can discuss when I'm closer to my due date. I'm only 14 weeks right now, but I've had a small umbilical hernia ever since my pregnancy with DD. I'm just wondering what people's experiences are as far as recovery goes combining both procedures. Thank you!

Re: Umbilical Hernia Repair During RCS

  • Interesting! I had an umbilical hernia after my second c section and had it repaired about a year afterward. I don't have experience on combining the procedures, but the repair for the umbilical hernia was a breeze. Day surgery, small incision above my belly button, easy recovery.

  • I have not had a c/s, but I did have an umbilical hernia repair.  Mine was NOT a breeze at all.  I think combining it with a CS may be a nice idea though b/c you will be in recovery mode already anyway.  I had my hernia repaired when DD2 was 14 months so she weighed more than my 10lb weight restriction and I couldn't lift her for 2 weeks.  I had to have someone else in the house at all times with me and the kids to do any/all lifting.  It sucked.
